Slaves of the Republic represents the initial story arc within the Star Wars: The Clone Wars comic book series. Henry Gilroy, who served as the primary writer for the television show's initial season, penned this narrative. This arc spanned six individual issues, beginning on September 10, 2008 and concluding on May 13, 2009.
This story arc was later adapted for television in episodes from Season Four: "Kidnapped," "Slaves of the Republic," and "Escape from Kadavo."
The Confederacy of Independent Systems engaged in negotiations with the Togruta colonists residing on the planet Kiros. These negotiations centered around relocating the population for their protection amidst the ongoing Clone Wars. When the Grand Army of the Republic launches an invasion of the planet several days later, Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker and his Padawan, Ahsoka Tano, are confronted with the enigma of the missing Togrutas. Following their victory over the Separatist commander, they seize control of a smuggling vessel, utilizing it to infiltrate the planet Zygerria, where they uncover the Togrutas' enslavement.
To rescue his Padawan, who had been captured and sold to Kiros, the same location where her people were taken, Anakin became the queen's consort. The queen's attempt to betray the Separatists resulted in her demise. Subsequently, Skywalker successfully rescued the Togrutas from the slave masters, preventing their certain death.
