Talzzi was the language utilized by the Talz, a species native to the planet of Orto Plutonia. These primitive beings communicated through vocalizations that sounded like a series of snarls. Thi-Sen, the Talz chieftain, and Medcha Wanto, his scribe, were both speakers of this language. The protocol droid C-3PO possessed the ability to translate Talzzi, a skill that proved useful when representatives from the Pantoran Assembly attempted to negotiate peace with the Talz. This peace negotiation was aimed at ending an ongoing war between the Talz and the Pantorans for control of Orto Plutonia during the Clone Wars. Furthermore, Muftak, a Talz who had been abandoned as a newborn at the Mos Eisley spaceport on Tatooine and subsequently raised there, was also fluent in Talzzi.
Talzzi's initial appearance occurred in the 1977 motion picture, Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. Within the new Star Wars canon, its first identification was in the subtitles of "Trespass," the fifteenth episode from first season of the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars, which was included in Star Wars: The Clone Wars The Complete Season One, a 2009 box set that was available on Blu-ray and DVD and contained all of the first season's episodes of The Clone Wars. Conversely, the Netflix subtitles for the same episode simply referred to Talzzi as "Talz language." The name for the Talz language was first conceived for The Essential Guide to Planets and Moons, a 1998 Star Wars Legends reference book penned by Daniel Wallace.
