A short story by Landry Q. Walker, "The Crimson Corsair and the Lost Treasure of Count Dooku," was initially released as an eBook on December 1, 2015. Later, it was included in the printed collection Tales from a Galaxy Far, Far Away: Aliens: Volume I, which was published on April 5, 2016. The narrative centers around the pirates who make up Sidon Ithano's crew.
During the time of the Clone Wars, a Separatist cruiser called the Obrexta III is attacked by forces of the Republic. The cruiser was attempting to deliver a high-value asset to Count Dooku on Serenno. In accordance with its programming, battle droid B1-CC14 launches the starship on a randomly generated hyperspace course in an attempt to escape. The Obrexta III subsequently crashes on the distant desert planet of Ponemah, and is forgotten as the war continues.
Decades and multiple wars later, the pirates of Sidon Ithano's crew, also known as the Crimson Corsair, intercept and decode a distress signal emanating from the treacherous Sea of Sand on Ponemah. The Ishi Tib named Pendewqell, motivated by the prospect of immense wealth, argues that they should search for the Obrexta III. However, the crew of the Meson Martinet are not the only pirates who have deciphered the signal, and a race begins to be the first to claim what they believe is a fabulous treasure.
