"To Catch a Jedi", an episode from the fifth season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars television series', is the nineteenth installment. It initially aired on February 23, 2013.
At the Jedi Temple, the Jedi Council convenes an urgent meeting to determine the optimal strategy for locating Ahsoka. While a majority of the Council members suspect her involvement in the crime, both Anakin Skywalker and Jedi Master Plo Koon express doubts regarding her culpability. Consequently, Yoda dispatches the pair to search for Ahsoka. Despite Mace Windu's reservations about Anakin's participation due to his emotional connection to his Padawan, Obi-Wan Kenobi strongly advocates for Anakin's inclusion in the mission.
While navigating the underworld, Ahsoka makes contact with her friend, the Jedi Padawan Barriss Offee. Barriss advises Ahsoka to find a different method of communication and assures her that she will investigate from her own side. Subsequently, Ahsoka destroys her comlink and obtains a cloak from a Gotal in order to conceal her identity.
Ahsoka boards a train and attempts to evade detection by the police, who are requesting to see identification passes. At the subsequent stop, Ahsoka attempts to disembark but is intercepted by guards who were preparing to board the transport. She engages them in close-quarters combat, then opens the door and leaps onto a nearby platform. Additional guards spot her and pursue her to an elevator area, where she becomes trapped in a malfunctioning elevator alongside a young Twi'lek boy who assists in their escape.
After successfully evading the guards, Ahsoka is ambushed from behind by Asajj Ventress, now operating as a bounty hunter, who intends to collect the bounty placed on Ahsoka's head. Ahsoka proposes a deal: if Ventress aids her in proving her innocence, Ahsoka will request a pardon from the Galactic Senate for Ventress. Anakin's ship spots the two, and they quickly evade capture by passing through a forcefield.
The pair then venture deeper into the lower levels, and Ahsoka uses a public holographic system to contact Barriss. Barriss informs Ahsoka about a warehouse where Letta Turmond acquired the nano-droids. As the two proceed towards the warehouse, they are ambushed by a squad of clones commanded by Commander Wolffe. Unable to negotiate, they engage in hand-to-hand combat, temporarily subduing the clones.
Upon reaching the warehouse, Ventress departs, reminding Ahsoka to fulfill her end of the agreement. As Ventress is leaving, she is attacked by a cloaked, Force-sensitive assailant. She is rendered unconscious, and the attacker steals her lightsabers and helmet. Meanwhile, Ahsoka investigates the warehouse, where the mysterious assailant ambushes her and engages her in a duel. Mistaking the attacker for Ventress, Ahsoka is knocked off a platform and falls near a crate of nano-droids just as a squad of clone troopers arrives. Before she can provide an explanation, she is incapacitated by a stun blast fired by Commander Wolffe.
Anakin and Koon arrive swiftly and discover the crates containing nano-droids. During their return to the temple, they inform the council about Ahsoka's capture. Koon and Anakin continue to contemplate whether Ahsoka is truly responsible for the attack, or if the conspiracy extends beyond the Jedi's knowledge.
The episode's title is a reference to the 1955 Alfred Hitchcock movie titled To Catch a Thief.
Spots Podal and the Rattataki character voiced by Robin Atkin Downes weren't explicitly named in the episode itself. The tookas featured in the episode were named in honor of Dave Filoni's late cat, Tuuk. They initially appeared as a stuffed toy in the "Innocents of Ryloth" episode, but this episode marks their first live-action appearance.
