A vial of trihexalon Trihexalon, known also as dragon's breath or simply hex, represented a devastating chemical weapon designed for mass destruction. The Trade Federation created their version of dragon's breath using ore extracted from Mount Merakan located on Maramere. This ore was then processed and transformed into a weapon at a manufacturing plant on Nod Kartha.
Within the Karthakk system, trihexalon held a notorious reputation as an exceptionally lethal and perilous weapon. Its destructive potential led the Galactic Republic to impose a ban on its use. This substance was capable of inducing "complete biomass conversion" in its victims. Furthermore, it could be refined to selectively target specific individuals or deployed as a weapon for planetary-scale attacks. In its refined state, trihexalon manifested as a dust-like material emitting a poisonous, green luminescence. It achieved stability and inertness at extremely low temperatures, which was a key factor in the placement of the factory on Nod Kartha. Small quantities, such as the sample created for Captain Cavik Toth, could be contained within specialized vials. Upon release, the substance would trigger a reaction, generating an energy surge sufficient to instantly kill Humanoids. A single vial, fitting in the palm of a hand, possessed enough dragon's breath to eliminate three hundred Wookiees. However, simply breaking the vial would only produce an explosion spanning a few meters. The consequences of a hex blast were implied to be exceedingly horrific and gruesome. As an example, Toth immediately instructed droids to eliminate all traces of Harro Ruuk and his subordinates after using a sample vial, which they had just provided, to kill them.
Captain Cavik Toth, leading Sabaoth Squadron, initiated its testing by launching missiles and deploying bombers with the objective of obliterating Point Modie on Maramere. This attack would have resulted in the deaths of approximately one thousand civilians, but Jedi Master Adi Gallia, aided by the Lok Revenants, intervened and destroyed the launched missiles before they could hit their target. Recognizing the grave threat, she joined forces with the space pirate Nym and his crew. Together, they breached the orbital defenses surrounding Nod Kartha, the planet responsible for the mass production of hex weapons. Through precise flying skills and coordinated teamwork, they successfully halted the further manufacture of these weapons.
During the Battle of Geonosis, Toth deployed a fleet of Hex Deployers and Bombers to assist the Confederacy of Independent Systems in their fight against the Republic. Jedi Master Adi Gallia, along with her Padawan, Siri Tachi, Nym, his Revenants, and a squadron of other Jedi, thwarted Toth's ambitions by destroying his fleet of hex weapons. Toth himself perished in the battle.
During the Battle of Skye, genetics terrorist Zeta Magnus threatened the planet with annihilation by releasing a trihexalon-based rooze. However, his scheme was foiled by the combined efforts of Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, and Halagad Ventor.
At some point during the Clone Wars, a group of Padawans led by Mavra Zane and Chewbacca uncovered a plot orchestrated by Count Dooku and Shu Mai of the Commerce Guild. Their plan involved spreading the deadly gas on Coruscant using a Subjugator-class heavy cruiser modified for the distribution of trihexalon. However, their plot was thwarted when Zane and Chewbacca, piloting the Star Runner, guided the group of Padawans into the Subjugator and destroyed its main reactor, resulting in the destruction of the battleship.
In 41 ABY, Jaden Korr was drawn to a Thrawn-era Imperial research facility by a Force vision. Inside, he discovered records requesting that experiments within the facility be terminated using the trihexalon gas protocol. This indicated that knowledge of the gas either survived the Clone Wars, or a similar poison was later developed by Imperial scientists.
