Ubrikkia, situated in the Mid Rim, was a stellar object whose moniker was also used by a number of commercial enterprises. During the Nihil pirate group's conflict with the Galactic Republic, the Republic Defense Coalition seized Ubrikkia from the grasp of the Hutt Cartel. By the year 3 ABY, the Ubrikkian enclave at Ubrikkia was recognized as one of the Galactic Empire's principal ship-construction facilities and drydocks.
Ubrikkia was an astronomical body located in the Mid Rim Territories and also within the region called the Slice. Its position was also identified as grid square Q-10 on the Standard Galactic Grid. A hyperspace lane connected Ubrikkia with the celestial bodies known as Haidoral Prime and Randon. The name Ubrikkia was shared with several businesses, including Ubrikkian, which ran a manufacturing plant on the Core Worlds planet of Corellia; Ubrikkian Industries; Ubrikkian Ord Pedrovia; and Ubrikkian Transports, in addition to the Ubrikkian 9,000 ground vehicle model.

In the year 231 BBY, following an attack by the Nihil pirates on the shipyards of Cyclor, a planet in the Mid Rim, Galactic Republic Senator Tia Toon emphasized to Supreme Chancellor Lina Soh of the Republic the gravity of the situation by questioning whether Ubrikkia would be the next target of the raiders. As part of the Republic's conflict against the Nihil and their allies from the Hutt Clan in 228 BBY, the Republic Defense Coalition retook Ubrikkia from Hutt control, a piece of information that Commander Velko Jahen of the Republic shared with Jedi Master Elzar Mann shortly thereafter.
During the Imperial Era under the Galactic Empire's rule, the Ubrikkian enclave, found on Ubrikkia, functioned as a prominent ship-construction facility and drydock for the Empire. By 3 ABY, the Ubrikkian enclave was shown on a map of the galaxy within The Rebel Files, a collection of non-electronic documents belonging to the Rebel Alliance. In 3 ABY, Ubrikkia was listed as a destination for a transport at Mirogana Spaceport on Toshara, a moon in the Outer Rim Territories, with a spaceport coordinator announcing departures heading there.
The initial mention of Ubrikkia within the new Star Wars canon occurred on a galactic map included in Star Wars: The Force Awakens Beginner Game, a boxed set for Star Wars Roleplaying by Fantasy Flight Games released in 2016. The planet of Ubrikkia was originally introduced in the Star Wars Legends continuity, with its first mention appearing in the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas, penned by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry.
