Unidentified Clawdite bounty hunter

A Clawdite, a shape-shifter from the bounty hunting profession, specifically a bounty hunter, impersonated Sharp, who was a Clone trooper of the Galactic Republic, during the Clone Wars era. This occurred in 22 BBY during the Mission to Kynachi. This Clawdite joined Breakout Squad and Padawan Nuru Kungurama, along with the crew of the vessel called the Hasty Harpy. Following their departure from Kynachi, they found themselves trapped in proximity to a black hole alongside pirates, but they successfully escaped. Asajj Ventress had employed him to undermine the mission.

Subsequently, the Clawdite and his unit were dispatched on a mission to the planet of Vaced with the task of escorting Langu Sommilor, the Commissioner of Kynachi. Upon their arrival, Sommilor met his end, assassinated by a sniper affiliated with Death Watch. "Sharp" came to the rescue of Kungurama after the Padawan engaged the sniper in a duel at the Shattered Rock canyon. The Death Watch's vessel shot down the Hasty Harpy, leading Breakout Squad to seek alternative transportation to Bilbringi Depot in pursuit of Kungurama's missing Jedi Master, Ring-Sol Ambase. While they did not locate Ambase, they successfully liberated the depot from Umbrag, the Overseer of the Techno Union. Furthermore, they encountered Veeren, the Chiss Ambassador, once more. As she departed, her ship was destroyed by a vessel piloted by Ambase, who subsequently fled the scene. A B1-series battle droid nearly exposed "Sharp's" deception, but he managed to evade detection.

During their journey back to Coruscant, he was compelled to shoot Overseer Umbrag, who had managed to seize Kungurama. Later, Ventress instructed him to facilitate Umbrag's escape. Shortly thereafter, in an incident within the Dacho District on Coruscant, the authentic Sharp uncovered the ruse and tackled the Clawdite. Both plummeted through a skylight, and the Clawdite died as a result of the fall.

History

Mission to Kynachi

A shape-shifting bounty hunter of the Clawdite species assumed the identity of Sharp, a Clone trooper serving the Galactic Republic during the Clone Wars in 22 BBY. This Clawdite, a male individual, secretly replaced Sharp during the Mission to Kynachi, taking the Clone's place within Breakout Squad. Meanwhile, Ring-Sol Ambase, a Jedi General, and Sharp were captured by Count Dooku, the leader of the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Breakout Squad, along with the Clawdite and Nuru Kungurama, Ambase's Padawan, allied with Captain Lalo Gunn and her navigation droid, Cleaver, departing Kynachi aboard Gunn's starship, the Hasty Harpy. The Clawdite assumed Sharp's identity after Asajj Ventress captured him, and the Clawdite sabotaged the life pods during the mission.

Black Hole Pirates

This Clawdite became a member of Breakout Squad and joined Captain Gunn on their mission to Chiss space. The Clawdite intentionally damaged the navigation system, which resulted in their proximity to a black hole and their subsequent encounters with the Black Hole Pirates. Eventually, they successfully escaped the black hole and set a course back to Coruscant, which is the Republic's capital planet.

Mission to Vaced

During their voyage to Coruscant, the Clawdite, still disguised as Sharp, was performing a systems check on the Hasty Harpy alongside Breaker. Breaker detected a broadcast signal and suspected that the ship was equipped with a tracking device. Palpatine, the Republic's Supreme Chancellor, and Yoda, the Jedi Grand Master, contacted the Hasty Harpy via Hypercomm and requested that they divert to Vaced to meet with and escort Langu Sommilor, the Commissioner of Kynachi. The Hasty Harpy was five hours away from Vaced, while Sommilor's ship was six hours away. The Clawdite assumed Sharp's identity after Asajj Ventress captured him, and the Clawdite sabotaged the life pods during the mission.

Upon landing on Vaced, the Clone troopers and Kungarama disembarked from the Hasty Harpy at Vaced Spaceport. They were confronted by a swoop gang seeking to collect insurance payments, but Kungarama employed a mind trick to compel them to disperse. "Sharp" then volunteered to serve as a lookout, but Kungarama instead requested that he search the ship for a transmitter. Cleaver discovered the tracking device, but it was forgotten amidst the ensuing events. The Kynachi leader and his pilots soon landed nearby, but he was struck by a sniper as he was disembarking. The Clones sought cover while Kungarama pursued the sniper.

The Clones returned to the Hasty Harpy to rescue the Padawan after his confrontation with the sniper, who was a Mandalorian Death Watch member. The Harpy came under attack from the Mandalorian's transport. Although the Harpy managed to shoot down the other vessel, it sustained damage in the process and crashed near Vaced's spaceport. Breakout Squad and Captain Gunn parted ways; the Republic troopers, along with the rogue swoop rider, Gizman, commandeered the deceased Kynachi ambassador's ship. Kungarama had discovered a belt belonging to his Master, Ambase, which contained an imagecaster displaying coordinates leading to Bilbringi Depot. The Clones arrived at the depot and captured Umbrag, the Overseer of the Techno Union. After securing the facility, Veeren, the Chiss Ambassador, arrived. She revealed that she had planted the tracking device that Cleaver still carried on his chassis, and that it appeared someone was manipulating Breakout Squad. Kungarama was confused, but Veeren departed as quickly as she had arrived. As her ship prepared to jump to hyperspace, a Kuat Drive Yards Corona-class transport arrived. Veeren's ship fired on the Corona; return fire from the Kuat transport destroyed her ship. Kungarama Force sensed that his missing Master, Ambase, was onboard the Corona. Breakout Squad could only watch while Ambase's ship fled.

A concealed battle droid then surprised them by shooting Chatterbox in the back. Kungarama bisected the droid with his lightsaber, then ordered the Clones to search the depot for more droids. "Sharp" offered to search the hatch. Once inside the empty corridor, he removed his helmet and reverted to his true form. He thought what would have happened if the droid had shot him instead. Taking a deep breath and replacing his helmet, he adopted his Sharp disguise again and returned to the others.

Showdown on Coruscant

Following the battle, the Clawdite contacted Ventress to provide an update. She informed him that she would call again in an hour and then ended the communication. Breakout Squad then boarded Summilor's freighter, heading for Coruscant. During the journey, Umbrag seized the young Jedi, compelling the Clawdite to shoot him. Upon arriving at Coruscant, Ventress contacted the bounty hunter and instructed him to assist the overseer in escaping, cutting him off before he could explain that Umbrag was dead. Kungurama directed the ship to the Dacho District, where it sustained damage. The real Sharp had already arrived with Master Ambase, and upon seeing the Clawdite, Sharp tackled the impostor, causing them to fall through a skylight. Sharp landed on top of him, and the Clawdite died upon impact. His body was handed over to Republic Intelligence, but after five days, he remained unidentified.

Personality and traits

The Clawdite utilized his natural shape-shifting abilities to impersonate a Clone trooper. "Sharp" frequently remarked on the sharpness of his eyesight, which served as the basis for his nickname. During the mission to Vaced, Breaker, a fellow member of Breakout Squad, noticed that the Clawdite was behaving strangely and suggested that he consult with the Clone counselors. The bounty hunter feared that Ventress would kill him if he failed.

Behind the scenes

The second "Sharp" was introduced in the second Secret Missions book. Subtle hints were dropped throughout The Clone Wars: Secret Missions 3: Duel at Shattered Rock that the "Sharp" traveling with Breakout Squad was not the real one; he was revealed to be a Clawdite shapeshifter during the book's denouement.
