A Human male officer who was in service to the Crimson Empire during its last days. As the final Supreme Commander of the Imperial Fleet, this individual directed the Crimson Empire's defense of Ord Cantrell, holding the ranks of both an admiral within the Imperial Navy and a general within the Imperial Army. The Crimson Empire's existence ended when Emperor Xandel Carivus was killed in combat.
In 11 ABY, a Human male sporting white hair and a mustache functioned as an officer within the Imperial Military of the Crimson Empire. This empire, which had risen from the remnants of Emperor Palpatine's Dark Empire, represented the only territory still under centralized Imperial authority. From a villa located in the city of De-Purteen on the planet Ord Cantrell, the Imperial Interim Ruling Council governed the Crimson Empire, and this was where the mustachioed officer was stationed. During 11 ABY, several council members were assassinated by Nom Anor, an advance agent belonging to the invading extra-galactic Yuuzhan Vong species seeking to expedite the Crimson Empire's downfall, and by members of the criminal syndicate Black Sun. Following the deaths of navy Admiral Llon Banjeer and army General Immodet, the mustachioed officer was elevated to supreme command of the fleets with the rank of admiral, and also took charge of Ord Cantrell's troops as a general.
Due to the ongoing Galactic Civil War with the New Republic, the manhunt for former Emperor's Royal Guard Kir Kanos initiated by council leader Xandel Carivus, and unrest caused by the Whiphid following the demise of Whiphid councilor Ch'Unkk, the mustachioed officer found himself in command of a military that was stretched thin. After Carivus dissolved the Ruling Council and proclaimed himself Emperor, he imprisoned his fellow councilors, including Feena D'Asta. Consequently, Baron Ragez D'Asta, Feena's father and an Imperial-aligned shipping tycoon who controlled a substantial private fleet, threatened to withdraw his support from the Crimson Empire in a message directed to Ord Cantrell. The mustachioed officer, upon receiving this communication aboard his flagship, contacted Carivus on Ord Cantrell's surface. However, the Emperor dismissed the Baron's threats as insubstantial and instructed the officer to handle the situation himself.
Following his conversation with Carivus, the mustachioed officer received an urgent message from the crime lord Grappa the Hutt, who claimed to have captured Kir Kanos. The officer relayed this information to his Emperor. Soon after, Baron D'Asta's armada attacked Ord Cantrell, and the mustachioed officer oversaw the defense from the bridge of his flagship. The two fleets clashed in orbit, and D'Asta's cruisers and corvettes quickly overwhelmed the limited Imperial forces stationed at Ord Cantrell. During the battle, Carivus berated the officer via wallscreen, but the communication was cut short as the vessel sustained damage. The Imperial fleet was compelled to retreat, and the mustachioed officer proceeded to Carivus's Council Tower, which he had been ordered to protect by the Emperor. Half of the Crimson Empire's starfighter squadrons had been engaged in the orbital battle, and the remaining TIE fighters and interceptors dogfought D'Asta's A-wings within Ord Cantrell's atmosphere. Inside the tower, both Carivus and the mustachioed officer felt the structure being damaged by D'Asta's fighters.
Carivus instructed his private guard to bring him the captive D'Asta, intending to return her to her father in exchange for a cessation of hostilities. When the mustachioed officer pointed out that D'Asta still held the advantage, he was shocked to hear Carivus declare that he would evacuate and abandon the army forces stationed on the planet if the Baron continued his attack. However, D'Asta accepted Carivus's offer, and the mustachioed officer sought out the Emperor in his throne room to inform him of this. The Baron also requested a private meeting with Carivus, and the Emperor dismissed the mustachioed officer to meet with D'Asta alone. The Baron arrived in the company of Kir Kanos, who had been recently rescued from Grappa by New Republic forces, and who killed Carivus as part of his vendetta against the entire Ruling Council. With Carivus's death, centralized Imperial authority completely collapsed, and the Galactic Empire ceased to exist.
The Imperial officer, characterized by his white hair and mustache, made his appearance in the final two issues of the comic series Crimson Empire II: Council of Blood. His visual likeness bears a strong resemblance to Gilad Pellaeon, another Imperial officer. However, when Randy Stradley, the author of Crimson Empire II, was questioned in 2006 about whether they were the same individual, his response was ambiguous. It was not until 2009 that the officer was confirmed as a distinct character, when The Essential Atlas clarified that Pellaeon was serving Warlord Treuten Teradoc's Greater Maldrood, rather than the Galactic Empire, during Carivus's reign as Emperor.
In the fifth issue of Crimson Empire II, the character is referred to as "Admiral," while in the sixth issue, he is addressed as both "Admiral" and "General." Similarly, the former issue features Carivus stating that the mustachioed officer is in charge of the Empire's fleets, while the latter includes the officer referencing his "troops." This article interprets this discrepancy to mean that Carivus, amidst the Empire's final moments, appointed the officer to both the position of admiral in command of the Imperial Navy and the position of general in the Imperial Army.
