During the High Republic Era, a being known as a Junk Maven made their home on the junk moon of Quantxi. As part of their scheme to trap the Jedi Order, the Nihil marauder group placed some of their members on Quantxi. The Junk Maven, along with a partner, then came into contact with them. The Junk Maven spoke to Marchion Ro, the leader of the Nihil, but their true intention was to divert the marauders' attention, thereby enabling the other being to flee to a communications tower and transmit a distress signal.
In the time of the High Republic Era, this individual lived on the junk Moon of Quantxi, a satellite of Ord Mantell, as one of the Junk Mavens. The Nihil marauder organization, desiring to lure the Jedi Order into an ambush, positioned some of their forces on Quantxi, including their leader, Marchion Ro, while dispatching a separate force to attack the Jedi. The Junk Maven, accompanied by a female colleague, approached the Nihil, seeking their attention.
Ro questioned the Junk Maven about their purpose, and the Junk Maven asserted their desire to remain uninvolved in the Nihil's galactic conflict. The Junk Maven's real purpose, however, was to create a distraction, allowing their companion to escape towards a nearby communications tower. When the Nihil noticed the other Junk Maven's movements, Ro realized it was a deception and sent the young recruit Krix Kamerat to pursue her. The Junk Maven's companion eventually succeeded in reaching the tower, sending a distress signal that alerted the Jedi to the activity on Quantxi.
The Junk Maven belonged to an avian species, characterized by a beak and clawed [feet](/article/limb]. They had dark gray hair and skin. The Junk Maven professed a wish to avoid involvement in galactic matters, but by doing so, they diverted the Nihil's attention so a comrade could send a signal to the Jedi. When Ro referred to the Junk Mavens as "Trash Keepers," the individual took offense, emphasizing that they were merely humble Junk Mavens. The Junk Maven's voice had a buzzing quality.
The Junk Maven made their debut appearance, though without being named, in the comic The High Republic Adventures (2021) 4, which was written by Daniel José Older, with illustrations by Harvey Tolibao, and published by IDW Publishing on May 5, 2021.
