Vallt, situated in the Outer Rim Territories, was a planet notable as the homeworld for both the Valltii and Taqwa species. Furthermore, Jyn Erso was born there. Characterized by its frigid environment, Vallt was partially covered by massive glacial ice formations. Its climate was often defined by intense snow and strong winds, making it largely unwelcoming to visitors from other worlds.
While working for Zerpen Industries on Vallt, Galen Erso and his team experienced a dramatic shift in the planet's governance. A coup orchestrated by sympathizers of the Confederacy of Independent Systems resulted in the overthrow of the existing Vallt government. Subsequently, Erso was swiftly incarcerated in Tambolor prison under accusations of espionage, coinciding with the planet's secession from the Galactic Republic and alignment with the Confederacy.
Prior to the Clone Wars, the icy snow planet of Vallt, found in the Outer Rim, had been a member of the Galactic Republic for a considerable number of years. However, its membership was marked by a lack of substantial trade, limited respect from the governing body, and inadequate representation within the Republic's structure. For approximately a decade, Vallt's representatives repeatedly brought these issues to the Republic's attention, yet their situation remained unchanged. During his time serving as Chair of the Senate, Mas Amedda participated in a committee alongside Vallt's delegates, but failed to provide the level of support they sought.
Vallt made its inaugural appearance in Catalyst: A Rogue One Novel, written by James Luceno and published in 2016. Its visual depiction was first seen in Rogue One Adaptation 4, which was released on July 5, 2017.
