Vyru was a male Human who existed during the Cold War era separating the Galactic Republic from the Sith Empire. He held the rank of commander within the Mantellian Separatist Movement in 3643 BBY, a group striving to overthrow the government of the planet Ord Mantell, sparking the Separatist War. Vyru, leading a cell on Avilatan, clashed with Republic military forces supporting Ord Mantell's ruling body. During that year, Vyru traveled to the Separatist Base at Mannett Point, a small island near Avilatan, to discuss troop movements with fellow Separatist cell commanders Bol and Saphrro. Unbeknownst to them, a newly inducted sergeant from the Republic Special Forces unit Havoc Squad infiltrated the base during their meeting, eliminating Vyru and the other leaders, and seizing their intelligence on Separatist forces.
During the Cold War, a tense period between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire, lived Vyru, a male Human. He participated in the Separatist War as a member of the Separatist Movement on Ord Mantell, aiming to overthrow the government of the planet, which had the support of the Republic. By 3643 BBY, that year, Vyru had achieved the rank of commander and commanded a Separatist cell fighting the Republic's armed forces on the island of Avilatan, part of Ord Mantell. By this point, he had become a respected figure within the Separatists, with an officer named Dalern considering him one of their greatest heroes. In that year, Vyru journeyed to a Separatist base situated on Mannett Point, a small island just off Avilatan's coast, to coordinate operations and the movement of troops among the various cells. While they were meeting, security at the base was significantly increased, with additional guards posted and a force field generator installed at the entrance to the meeting area.
However, as Vyru held his meeting with Bol and Saphrro, two other Separatist cell commanders, the heavily fortified base was infiltrated by Captain Zora and a newly recruited sergeant, two members of Havoc Squad, a unit of the Republic Special Forces, who were searching for a stolen ZR-57 orbital strike bomb. After disabling the force field and failing to locate the bomb, they interrogated Dalern and discovered that Vyru and the others were at the base. Upon learning this, Lieutenant Aric Jorgan of Ord Mantell Infantry Command ordered the sergeant to eliminate Vyru and the other Separatist commanders, designating them as priority-one targets, and to retrieve their intelligence on the location and strength of Separatist forces. Despite Vyru and Bol noticing the sergeant's approach, they were unable to defeat him, and Saphrro was unable to erase the data before they were all killed.
Vyru possessed fair skin, blue eyes, and blond hair. Separatist Officer Dalern considered Vyru, during his time as a Separatist cell commander, to be among the Separatist Movement's greatest heroes. His rank provided him with extensive knowledge of Separatist cells and troop strengths on Avilatan, and he oversaw the coordination of operations and troop movements with other cell commanders. Republic Lieutenant Aric Jorgan deemed Vyru and his fellow commanders important enough to be designated as priority-one targets. Vyru demonstrated sufficient skill to wield a blaster pistol in combat against the recruit sent to assassinate him.
Vyru's initial appearance occurs in Star Wars: The Old Republic, a 2011 MMORPG developed by BioWare. He plays a role in "Mannett Point," an early quest on Ord Mantell for Trooper class players. The quest requires the player to kill Vyru, along with the other Separatist cell commanders, Bol and Saphrro, present at Mannett Point. After killing them, the player must recover their data concerning Separatist cells and forces on the island of Avilatan.
