The weeping maya tree was a specific kind of tree that grew on the planet called Pabu. This particular tree was characterized by its brown branches, pink blossoms, and occasional appearance of white blossoms, which were seen as a sign of good luck. Around 18 BBY, when the Force-Sensitive Outcast Asajj Ventress arrived on Pabu to evaluate the Force-sensitivity of the renegade clone known as Omega, she challenged Omega to find a white blossom from the weeping maya tree. Omega successfully completed this mission, returning to the designated Pabu cove with the requested white blossom.

This variety of tree, the weeping maya tree, could be found on the planet of Pabu. One such tree thrived in a flowerbed situated on top of the island also named Pabu, positioned centrally within the colonnade and in front of the Archium. This tree was known for its thick, winding branches adorned with green leaves and vibrant pink blossoms that covered its brown limbs. The occurrence of white blossoms was infrequent, and they were considered an indication of fortune and prosperity.

Approximately around 18 BBY, after the arrival of the rogue clone squad, Clone Force 99, on Pabu, the clone named Wrecker spent time playing under the tree one evening with the young clone Omega and her Pabuan friend, Lyana Hazard. Later, the Dathomirian Force-Sensitive Outcast Asajj Ventress journeyed to Pabu and subjected Omega to several tests to determine her potential for Force-sensitivity. One of these tests required Omega to retrieve a white blossom from the weeping maya tree and bring it back to Pabu cove before sunset. Despite Omega's initial hesitation, citing the limited time to complete the seemingly impossible task, she eventually attempted it. With the assistance of her lurca hound companion, Batcher, she successfully located a white blossom on the tree and returned with it.
On the day of the Imperial invasion of Pabu, the weeping maya tree was decorated with colorful banners as part of a festival in the surrounding courtyard. Following a skirmish at the Galactic Empire's Tantiss Base, the facility was destroyed and Omega was rescued from Imperial confinement alongside many other clone prisoners and brought to Pabu. Finally safe, Omega sat beneath the weeping maya tree with her brothers, Hunter, Wrecker, and Crosshair, at last free from Imperial pursuit.

The weeping maya tree made its debut appearance in the Star Wars: The Bad Batch animated television series in "Pabu," which was the thirteenth episode of Season Two, released on March 15, 2023. However, it wasn't formally identified until "The Harbinger," the ninth episode of Season Three, which was released on March 27, 2024. Before the release of the latter episode, the tree's name was alluded to in a tweet by Jennifer Corbett, one of the show's executive producers. Molly Denmark created the concept art for the weeping maya tree.
Later, the weeping maya tree was featured in an article on EA.com, published on January 15, 2025, which highlighted the upcoming addition of the character Omega (Fugitive) to the EA Capital Games video game Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes. The game, which was initially released in 2015, incorporated an environment that included the tree in a game update on January 14, 2025.
