Wildfire, previously known as CT-1701, was a clone trooper who fought for the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars. Following the replacement of the Galactic Republic with the Galactic Empire, Wildfire chose not to pledge loyalty to the New Order. Instead, he joined forces with Tress Hacnua, a Devaronian fighter, to oppose the Empire as a soldier within the Alliance to Restore the Republic.
Originally designated CT-1701, the clone trooper who would later be known as Wildfire was one of many cloned from the genetic template provided by Jango Fett, the human bounty hunter. Like all clone troopers, Wildfire was created to serve as a soldier for the Galactic Republic, and as such, he fought against the droid forces of the Confederacy of Independent Systems as a member of the Grand Army of the Republic throughout the Clone Wars. He was a member of the 104th "Wolfpack" Battalion, a Republic Military unit under the command of Clone Commander Wolffe. During the Clone Wars, Wildfire and another clone trooper, Umbra, once survived for a month on the planet of Felucia, where their only food source was insects.
Following the conclusion of the war, and the incorporation of the clone army into the Imperial Army, Wildfire departed from his military duties and allied himself with Tress Hacnua, a cybernetically-enhanced Devaronian female, to fight against the Galactic Empire as part of the newly formed Alliance to Restore the Republic. Upon discovering that his former commanding officer, Wolffe, was still alive and supporting the Rebellion, Wildfire volunteered his team for a mission to Seelos to recover crucial intelligence from Joopa Base, the All Terrain Armored Transport controlled by Wolffe, Rex, and Gregor on the planet of Seelos.
Wildfire was created to be a soldier, as he was a clone trooper. As a Clone Wars veteran who experienced accelerated aging, Wildfire had white hair and a beard by the time he was serving with the Rebel Alliance. He excelled at providing a wide range of blaster fire, and he compensated for any lack of precision with an overwhelming amount of covering fire.
Wildfire continued to use his clone trooper armor, which was customized with a kama, an orange pauldron on his left shoulder, and other modifications. His primary weapon was the standard-issue DC-15S blaster.
