Zumeg, a Talpiddian, held the position of archivist within the Disciples of the Whills. They were stationed at the Temple of the Kyber, located in the Holy City on the moon of Jedha, circa 382 BBY. During that year, a series of religious artifact thefts occurred throughout the city, one of which was the Firebird of Colsassa from the aforementioned temple. After Vildar Mac and Matthea Cathley, both Jedi, alerted Zumeg to a potentially stolen object from the temple, Zumeg, along with their assistant archivist Feric Oranalli, guided the two Jedi and Captain Oklane Viss of the Guardians of the Whills to the location where the sculpture should have been. En route, Zumeg expressed gratitude to the Jedi for reporting the city-wide thefts, but voiced skepticism regarding a temple theft, citing the Guardians' presence. Cathley then mentioned that Tey Sirrek, a former Guardian, had indicated the object originated from the temple, prompting Oranalli to remark on Sirrek's unreliability. Zumeg attempted to silence Oranalli, but Oranalli retorted that they both knew Sirrek was a menace, and now the Jedi were aware too. Zumeg responded by stating that the truth would be easily determined.
As the group proceeded through the temple, Zumeg clarified that the Jedi's description of the missing sculpture matched the Firebird of Colsassa, and provided some background information on the relic. Upon reaching the Firebird's designated location, Zumeg was astonished to find it missing. Oranalli immediately blamed Sirrek for the theft, but the Jedi remained unconvinced. They argued that it was illogical for Sirrek to investigate the theft of an object he himself had stolen, and then draw the Jedi's attention to it. Cathley informed the archivists and Viss that when they first encountered Sirrek, he was investigating the death of a sister of Sarrav and appeared genuinely distressed by her demise. Viss then spoke, and Zumeg inquired if the captain had anything to add. Viss stated that a blaxorn never changes its spots and that Sirrek was easily manipulated by sob stories. Cathley challenged the captain, pointing out that someone had died. Viss countered that that was the problem, people frequently died when Sirrek was involved. Later, the two archivists escorted Cathley and Mac to Zumeg's office to review the temple's security cameras logs. Mac inquired whether the cameras would have recorded any unauthorized entries into the temple. Zumeg confirmed that they would have, provided Oranalli could locate the correct file. While they were in the office, Sirrek arrived to examine the logs but discovered a bomb positioned outside the office. Sirrek seized the bomb, and Mac, noticing him holding it, pushed it away using the Force. The bomb set off, and in the subsequent explosion, Mac used the Force to shield the two archivists from the blast. Despite Mac's efforts, Zumeg succumbed to their injuries and died in the morning.
