"Corellia for Corellians" was a satirical song by an Alderaanian writer released by around 270 BBY, written as a joke about the isolationistic tendencies of the planet Corellia. Forty years after its release, the Corellian singer Crufeela attempted to use the song in a comeback performance, only for it to be discovered that she was lying about writing it and had lip-synched to a recording of a Naboo teenager.
"Corellia for Corellians" was written in a jingoistic style as it was intended as a joke at the planet Corellia's isolationistic tendencies. However, the song's satirical nature was easy to miss, leading some to mistake it for a straightforward patriotic song. A performance of the song by a Naboo teenager was very high-pitched.
"Corellia for Corellians" was written by an Alderaanian as a joke and released by around 270 BBY. Forty years afterwards, the Corellian singer Crufeela, a Shani already in trouble due to her habit of eating endangered creatures, used the song in a galactic talent show as part of an attempted comeback after an endangered papdoo scandal. Not understanding that the song was satirical, Crufeela claimed to have written "Corellia for Corellians" herself in memory of the victims of a recent natural disaster on Corellia. However, the comeback attempt failed, as not only was the true authorship discovered, Crufeela was also revealed to not have performed the song, having lip-synched to a voice recording scammed out of a Naboo teenager who had been trying to make it big on the holos, which had subsequently been delivered to Crufeela for her use in the competition.
Although he was not interested in pop culture, Jedi Padawan Reath Silas witnessed Crufeela's lip-synched performance of "Corellia for Corellians" on the talent show, having also overheard the news about the singer from other Padawans who kept abreast of such things. He did not think the song was very good. Around 230 BBY, bodyguard Alys Ongwa, head of Supreme Coronet City Diplomat Protection, heard that Crufeela had been hired as the new performer for the Finance Ball, and quipped to her rival Dizcaro, whom Crufeela had hired for protection, that the singer would have to learn how to lip-synch on the fly if someone tried to make a song request in the middle of her performance. Silas, who was working with Ongwa's agency to uncover Nihil influence on Corellia, thought about the incident involving "Corellia for Corellians" while helping to execute a sting operation on Crufeela intended to get her arrested so they could replace her with a new performer, Mz. Z. When Crufeela was arrested for trying to eat the Bonbrak Teetak, Chief Inspector Deemus Abrus described it as her third fall from grace, after "Corellia for Corellians" and the papdoo scandal.
"Corellia for Corellians" was mentioned in the 2022 young-adult novel The High Republic: Midnight Horizon, written by Daniel José Older for the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project.
