The destruction of Tah'Nuhna, also known as the sacking of Tah'Nuhna, was an assault launched by the First Order on the neutral world of Tah'Nuhna for assisting the Resistance.
The people of the ice planet Tah'Nuhna in the Mid Rim Territories, the Tah'Nuhna were a peaceful species who had always taken a neutral stance in galactic politics since the days of the Hundred-Year Darkness, which managed to keep their planet out of the galaxy's major wars. In fact, even the Galactic Empire never invaded the planet. As per their tradition of helping those in need, they welcomed the Resistance to their planet in 34 ABY to take refuge after the Battle of Crait. However, the First Order traced a Resistance transmission to the planet and dispatched an assault group under General Armitage Hux to punish the Tah'Nuhna for daring to help the Resistance, which was not seen as a neutral act by the First Order.
Intending to ransack the planet instead of invading it, the assault group was composed of several Resurgent-class Star Destroyers, including theFinalizer, a Mandator IV-class Siege Dreadnought, and a compliment of TIE/se Bombers and snowtroopers. After the First Order fleet arrived over a Tah'Nuhna city, it was spotted by a Tah'Nuhna working on one of the world's glass palaces, which were built across generations. The sight of the First Order fleet made one Tah'Nuhna realize their world would soon have a new legacy, instead of their one of peace and neutrality. A Tah'Nuhan leader did contact Hux and pleaded that he not fo through with the attack, but her words fell on deaf ears.
The Mandator IV-class Siege Dreadnought opened the attack with a shot to the city, which was followed by the deployment of snowtroopers under orders kill any civilians who tried to flee from the besieged metropolis. As the snowtroopers fired on the populace, TIE/se Bombers were deployed and attacked the city from above in a bombing run. One First Order TIE Fighter Pilot involved in the operation as a bomber pilot was known by the nickname "Grudge." As explosions and destruction spread through the city and closer to her tower, the Tah'Nuhna leader sent out a message to anyone who could hear them asking for aid, only for several missiles to destroy the tower. The leader was killed in the explosion.
At the new Resistance Camp on Anoat, Kaydel Ko Connix watched as Tah'Nuhna was destroyed. She then ran over to General Leia Skywalker Organa Solo and reported the destruction of the people to her. Leia was very sad to hear the news, noting that the Tah'Nuhna paid the ultimate price for kindness. Knowing that it was now or never, Leia assembled a team to travel to the water planet of Mon Cala in order to plead with the Mon Calamari for ships to rebuild the Resistance.
