The Fondor Shipyards above the planet Fondor was a shipyard that consisted of at least nineteen large, wheel-shaped Imperial dockyards that featured multiple hangars as well as several docking bays for Imperial-class Star Destroyers.
After the founding of the Galactic Empire, in 19 BBY the shipyards were converted from civilian shipyards, to the manfacture of Imperial-class Star Destroyers. Prior to the Battle of Scarif, Rebel agents were located near the Fondor Shipyards, and reported to General Airen Cracken about their findings.
At some point during the Galactic Civil War, the Fondor Shipyards came under attack by Rebel forces lead by Major Shin. While the Rebels attempted to destroy an Imperial II-class Star Destroyer docked at the shipyards for repair, Colonel Brenna and her fighters mobilized to defend it.
After the fateful Battle of Endor, which saw the destruction of the second Death Star and the death of Emperor Sheev Palpatine, Inferno Squad was sent to one of the shipyards to protect climate disruption arrays for Operation: Cinder by Admiral Garrick Versio and one of the late Emperor's sentinel droids. Shortly after, one of the stations was attacked by Rebel Alliance vessels, in which they attempted to hijack the Star Destroyer Dauntless, which was carrying the climate disruption arrays. The attack failed, and Alliance forces were defeated.
Shortly before the Battle of Jakku, the Shipyards were once again attacked, this time by the New Republic, the Rebel Alliance's successor state. The battle resulted in a New Republic victory, and the shipyards were taken.
After the Battle of Crait, the First Order dispatched at least thirteen Resurgent-class Star Destroyers to the Fondor Shipyards after hearing rumors of Resistance activity. After an interrogation, one of the crewmembers of the shipyards admitted that the Resistance had arrived, but he refused to offer them any assistance. Supreme Leader Kylo Ren reminded him that simply having had contact with the Resistance was an act of treason, and thus this "contact" with the enemy gave Ren an excuse to formally put the shipyards under First Order control, something the "lenient" Empire should have done. The crewmember protested that Fondor had always been independently run, which even the Empire respected, but Ren executed him.
