Jat Kaa was created as part of the official backstory for Jat Kaa's Coolers, a trio of mobile soda carts in the themed land Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, which opened to guests at Disneyland Park on May 31, 2019. The idea to have a Lurmen selling drinks came from Carrie Beck at Lucasfilm. Originally, Jat Kaa was planned as a physical prop, but the final decision was to have repurposed droids operate the drink carts.
