Keth Cerepath

Keth Cerepath was a human male resident of Jedha City during the High Republic Era. He was an adjunct at the Temple of the Kyber, and spent his evenings drinking at the tapbar Enlightenment.

Adjunct for the Church of the Force

Keth Cerepath worked for the Church of the Force, doing chores at the Temple of the Kyber in Jedha City. However, he did not follow the teachings of the church. After work, he often stayed at Enlightenment, talking with his friends Moona and Piralli and listening to stories told by other customers.

Around 382 BBY, a hyperspace prospector stopped at Enlightenment after an adventure on her way to Vexos. She told Keth and his friends the story of how she was captured by pirates together with a Jedi Master named Lee Harro and how Master Harro freed them both and saved them from strostodons on Vexos.

Later, Keth witnessed a speeder almost hit a crowd of citizens. The speeder was stopped by the Jedi Maeve Cuilinn. One of the survivors, a Path of the Open Hand member called Whool, condemned this usage of the Force. When Keth asked him if he would've preferred to die, Whool told Keth the story of how he, his brother Grael and other miners were almost crushed by a collapsing mine once, but Grael saved them using the Force. According to Whool's story, that resulted in the Force balancing itself by letting a different mine on the same planet collapse. Keth didn't believe that the Force operated like that, saying that it must've been a coincidence. Only seconds later, Piralli came into Enlightenment, telling Keth that the same speeder that almost killed Whool had crashed into another group of people and killed four of them, giving Keth a different perspective.

The Summit on Jedha

During the summit on Jedha, Keth was appointed chief liaison between the Church and Morton San Tekka, the Republic appointed mediator at the summit. Although he wasn't happy with this job, he tried to do his duties as best as he could. On his first day, he overslept and came late to the Second Spire. Shortly before the summit began, he went to get Morton a glass of water, using the the opportunity to secretly let Peethree in through a window, even though droids weren't allowed at the summit. On his way back, a bomb detonated, killing Morton and temporarily stopping the peace talks. Peethree went missing in the chaos.

The Battle of Jedha

As the Jedi found out that a droid was responsible for the bombing of the Second Spire, Keth and the still missing P3-7A became the main suspects. Jedi Master Silandra Sho decided to investigate the bombing, interviewing many witnesses including Keth. Silandra believed in Keth's innocence and let him help her with his knowledge about the Holy City. All the witnesses they interviewed saw something different with the exception that everyone saw an individual talking to a droid shortly before the bombing. The E'roni saw an Eiram soldier talking to the droid, the Eirami saw an E'ronoh soldier, and other witnesses saw a Lew'elan talking to the droid. When Silandra and Keth visited Enlightenment they found out that the force cult Brotherhood of the Ninth Door had the ability to confuse one's mind letting people see what they want to see. With that in mind, they confronted the Brotherhood and found out that they had worked together with Tilson Graf, the new mediator, to stop the peace conference. In a fight with the Brother of the Ninth Door Mytion, Keth sacrificed himself to save Silandra.

Legacy

After his death, Silandra returned Keth's body to the Temple of the Kyber, where prefect Resamond Saous promised that Keth would be honored for the part he played in the battle. After that, Silandra went to Enlightenment to tell and delight the customers with Keth's story, just like Keth was always delighted by all the stories told in the tapbar.

Personality and traits

Keth was a kind and open-minded person. He loved staying at the tapbar Enlightenment, meeting his friends there and listening to stories told by all kinds of individuals, secretly dreaming of going on an adventure himself, too. When other people were in need of help, he often did his best to provide as much help as he could. He offered Saretha von Beel a place to stay when she arrived on Jedha, and he helped the Path of the Open Hand member Whool after an out of control speeder almost killed him. He helped Silandra Sho investigate who was responsible for the bombing of the Second Spire and eventually sacrificed himself to save her. As he died, he was happy to have finally lived out an adventure.

Equipment

Keth Cerepath wore an adjunct's tunic. He owned a junk droid named P3-7A, who was built by Bonbraks out of scrap and a church droid's vocoder. Keth also briefly used a lightsaber to save Silandra Sho.
