Abandoned Workshop

The Abandoned Workshop, situated on the planet Bogano in the Outer Rim Territories, served as both a workspace and research center for Jedi Master Eno Cordova during his time there. Constructed with the help of pit droids, it comprised two levels. Integrated into the planet's natural rock formations, the workshop had multiple entry points across Bogano. The facility contained diverse equipment, including a weather sensor and a water purification setup, each serving a specific function.

Within the workshop, Cordova dedicated himself to studying Zeffonian technology and the local wildlife, creating detailed drawings of the native creatures. By the [Imperial Era](/article/imperial_era], the workshop had been deserted. Later, in 14 BBY, Jedi Padawan [Cal Kestis](/article/cal_kestis], along with his new droid companion BD-1, explored the abandoned facility.

Description

The bottom floor of the Abandoned Workshop

On the Outer Rim Territories planet Bogano, the Abandoned Workshop was once the property of and operated by the Jedi Master known as Eno Cordova. Access to the workshop was possible from various locations, including the Fractured Plains, Bogdo Sinkholes, Great Divide, and Hermit's Abode. A small metal bridge connected the Great Divide to the workshop's entrance. The structure itself was embedded within the limestone geological formations of the planet.

The workshop was structured with two distinct levels. The lower level featured a large, circular entrance from the Great Divide, opening into a sizable pool of water containing a small limestone island and pillar. Cordova had installed lights within this pool. One of the islands was tall, adorned with vines that allowed climbing to the base of the staircase leading to the upper level. Behind the pillar, four lamps illuminated the natural walls. The second level was reached via a long hallway at the top of the staircase. This circular room, lit by seven lamps, housed the tools, Zeffo statues, pottery, glyphs, and items Cordova had used and collected. A lightsaber workbench was present, along with a table holding Cordova's repair kit and sketches. A door at the top of the stairs provided access to the surface. The workshop also included systems for water filtration, dehumidifying fans, and mechanical vents to regulate the internal environment.

History

Creation and use

During his investigation of the Zeffonian species, Jedi Master Eno Cordova journeyed to Bogano. There, he commissioned DUM-series pit droids to help in the construction of his workshop. He dedicated his time to studying the Zeffo's Bogano Vault and the native plant and animal life of the planet. He constructed a weather sensor on the land above his workshop to determine when outerwear was needed. However, he instead discovered that the winds contained significantly less electromagnetic radiation compared to the Zeffo homeworld of the same name. This observation led him to hypothesize that this was the reason the Bogano Vault was constructed on Bogano. Cordova honored the droids that assisted him in the construction of the workshop by using their remains to create a cairn.

Rebuilding the Jedi Order

By 14 BBY during the Imperial Era, Cordova had departed from the workshop. His personal droid BD-1 remained on Bogano, holding all of Cordova's research, theories, and personal recordings, waiting for someone to discover the droid. In that year, Jedi Padawan Cal Kestis arrived on Bogano as part of his secret mission to rebuild the Jedi Order.

While exploring Bogano, Kestis and BD-1, who had become his companion, made their way to the workshop. Entering from the Great Divide, he employed the Force push ability to lower the bridge, allowing entry to the workshop through the lower level. Through the use of psychometry, Kestis gained insights into the workshop's history and discovered several chests. Inside, the Jedi found the emitter and switch for a Valor and Wisdom lightsaber, materials for the "Offshore" poncho style, and lamina steel, a material useful for lightsaber construction.

Using Cordova's workbench, Kestis removed the hilt of Cordova's lightsaber from the table and integrated it into his own lightsaber, transforming it from a single-bladed weapon into a double-bladed lightsaber.

Behind the scenes

Gabe Yeganyan's concept illustration of the Abandoned Workshop

The Abandoned Workshop made its debut in the 2019 video game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, a project developed by Respawn Entertainment. Within the game, players have the option to acquire the double-bladed lightsaber from various locations, including the Abandoned Workshop. During the workshop's development, it was envisioned that Eno Cordova's exploration of Bogano's landscape and wildlife may have influenced the design of the workshop. Concept illustrations for the workshop were created by artists Gabe Yeganyan and Liam MacDonald.
