A white stone known as Limestone existed on the planet of Bogano, as well as the moons of Endor and Ajan Kloss. Artificial limestone was used in the construction of a spa on Cantonica, and it was also a material used in some structures on Batuu. The archaeologist Detta Yao, in 3 ABY, once mistook a wall of bones on Dianth for one made of limestone.
This white stone, limestone, along with clay, made up the geological composition of Bogano, a planet located in the Outer Rim Territories. Gorax, a semi-sentient species, dwelled in a chain of limestone mountains beyond the deserts of the forested moon Endor. The appearance of limestone was similar to marble and bones, and the Resistance base on the Outer Rim moon Ajan Kloss was constructed inside a limestone cave. As seen in the walls of Zord's Spa and Bathhouse, a spa situated in Canto Bight, a city on the planet Cantonica, artificial limestone could be utilized as a building material. Furthermore, the Great Temple on Yavin 4 was also built from limestone.

In 382 BBY, Rooper Nitani, a Jedi Padawan on the world of Batuu, noticed that some buildings in Black Spire Outpost were constructed from limestone as she approached to meet her friend Dass Leffbruk.
In 3 ABY, Chelli Lona Aphra, Eustacia Okka, and Detta Yao, all archaeologists, along with Just Lucky, a smuggler, and Krrsantan, a bounty hunter, journeyed to Vaale, a city on the planet Dianth within the Malitoris system, where they encountered a wall of bones that Yao initially thought was either limestone or marble.
The first appearance of limestone in the canon continuity was in the short story "Hear Nothing, See Nothing, Say Nothing," which was published as part of the novella Canto Bight on December 5, 2017. A scene featuring Zord's Spa and Bathhouse, including its limestone walls, was planned for the sequel trilogy film Star Wars: Episode VIII The Last Jedi, which was released on December 15, 2017, but it was ultimately cut. It was first depicted in Star Wars: The Last Jedi: The Visual Dictionary, a reference book written by Pablo Hidalgo and released on the same day.
Limestone was initially introduced to the Star Wars Legends continuity in Splinter of the Mind's Eye, a novel from 1978 penned by Alan Dean Foster. In the real world, limestone is a sedimentary rock of the carbonate variety.
