Atravis, a celestial body, resided within both the Outer Rim Territories and the Western Reaches. Its location was also specified as grid square L-19 on the Standard Galactic Grid. The Hydian Way, a prominent super-hyperroute, provided a connection between Atravis, Rutan, and Shumavar. Furthermore, Atravis lent its designation to the Atravis sector, which encompassed the neighboring Mustafar system. In the year 34 ABY, a partial map of the galaxy indicating Atravis's position was visible on several screens found on the Chandrila Star Line's Halcyon Star Cruiser.
The initial depiction of Atravis in the current Star Wars canon occurred on a galactic map featured in Star Wars: The Force Awakens Beginner Game, a boxed set from Fantasy Flight Games' Star Wars Roleplaying released in 2016. Its first in-universe appearance was as a map location within Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, an immersive roleplaying experience at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, which opened to the public on March 1, 2022.
The Atravis system was first introduced into the Star Wars Legends continuity, with its initial mention in the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas, penned by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry. Subsequently, the system made its debut in The Clone Wars: Act on Instinct, a webcomic created by Pablo Hidalgo and published on StarWars.com throughout the second season (2009–2010) of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars television show.
