The episode titled "Attack of the Training Droids" represents the second segment within the fourth episode of the Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures animated series. Its debut occurred on May 4, 2023, via the Disney+ streaming service.
Kai Brightstar, Lys Solay, and Nubs find themselves engaged in a training drill at the Jedi Temple situated on Tenoo. Their mission: to successfully detach a Beacon from a Training droid before the clock runs out. Jedi Masters Yoda and Zia Zaldor Zanna observe as the Jedi Initiates grapple with the training droid, which proves capable of holding its own against the younglings. As time dwindles, Brightstar attempts to exploit an opening, advancing on the droid with his lightsaber. The droid takes cover behind a trunk, causing Brightstar to stumble.
Once the beacon sounds, Zanna announces that the exercise is over. Brightstar expresses his disappointment at failing to impress Master Yoda. Zanna acknowledges their near success but points out that Brightstar acted too hastily. Yoda imparts wisdom about the value of patience. He then confronts the training droid, which brandishes four lightsabers and charges at Yoda. Employing his Force powers, Yoda deflects the droid's attacks and successfully retrieves the beacon, disabling the droid.
Dee arrives, signaling to Masters Zanna and Yoda that it's time for their departure. Zanna assigns the younglings the task of tidying up the training area before they leave. After the adults depart, Brightstar proposes an additional training session to capture the beacon. Solay reminds Brightstar of Zanna's instructions. Noticing the training droids returning to their designated spots, Brightstar conceives a plan to have the droids handle the cleaning while they dedicate the afternoon to training.
Nubs reminds Brightstar of Zia's orders back in Poobian. Brightstar argues that they lack the time for both training and cleaning. When Solay emphasizes that the training droids are not designed for cleaning, Brightstar resolves to reprogram and retrain them. He demonstrates by creating a stack of bricks. Subsequently, the three training droids begin organizing the bricks in the training area.
However, the droids shift their focus to other areas of the temple. Brightstar realizes that the droids have gone haywire. The training droids bypass Dee before entering the canteen and stacking children's trays. A brown haired human boy has his tray taken. Brightstar and his companions attempt to halt the droids, but they separate. Brightstar and his friends split up and give chase to the droids.
One of the droids enters the dormitories and starts stacking blankets. Nubs spots the droid taking a blanket from a dark curly-haired human girl. Nubs retrieves the blanket and returns it to the girl. The droid then snatches the girl's pillow, leading to a tug-of-war with Nubs. The pillow rips, releasing purple foam. Nubs expresses his frustration as the droid stacks the foam balls.
Inside the canteen, a second droid confiscates trays from a Mirialan boy, a dark-skinned girl, and the brown-haired boy for a second time. Solay pursues the droid into the kitchen, joined by Nubs. The third droid attempts to take cloaks from a purple-haired Human boy and a curly-haired human girl. Brightstar asserts that the kids are not a mess. The kids retreat into a closet, with the boy expressing concern about the droid's behavior. Brightstar confronts the droid outside the closet, offering it a choice between cooperation and resistance.
Meanwhile, Solay and Nubs discover that the other two droids have created towering stacks of library books and files. Solay wonders how Brightstar is managing his droid. The third droid drags Brightstar into the room before joining its companions in stacking books. Dee expresses her horror. Brightstar admits that he has lost control of the situation. Solay suggests contacting Nash Durango for assistance.
Brightstar reaches out to Durango and RJ-83, who have just finished loading some scrap for Marlaa Jinara. Brightstar explains their predicament with the training droids. The three younglings follow the droids to the landing pad where Durango's starship, the Crimson Firehawk, is parked. The training droids become fixated on the Firehawk's junk cargo, despite Durango's objections. As they unload her junk, Solay explains that the droids have a penchant for stacking. After stacking Durango's junk, they turn their attention to Kublop Springs. Solay emphasizes the need to stop the droids before they reach the town.
Brightstar takes responsibility for the situation. Durango trips over a stack of cargo, attracting the droids' attention. With the droids distracted, Brightstar and his friends decide to divert the droids by creating more messes. The children and RJ-83 work together, carrying pieces of cargo through the Jedi Temple and deliberately dropping them. The droids bypass two other children carrying stacks.
Through their collective efforts, the five manage to lure the training droids back into the training area and seal the entrances. Solay suggests powering them down. Brightstar devises a plan to disable the droids one by one. While RJ-83 leads a droid on a chase, Brightstar ambushes it from behind and switches it off. Nubs conceals himself behind a wooden structure and ambushes a second training droid, jumping on it and shutting it down. Solay drops blocks around the third droid. While the droid is occupied, Brightstar leaps on top of it. Although the droid manages to throw him off, Solay is able to switch it off from behind. The younglings and RJ-83 celebrate their success.
Yoda arrives, commenting on the unexpected chaos. While Durango and RJ-83 slip away, Solay expresses gratitude to their friends. Brightstar greets Master Yoda. Master Zannah reveals that Dee informed them about the incident. Brightstar apologizes for reprogramming the droids, and Solay admits that taking the shortcut made the situation worse. Nubs nods in agreement. Yoda concludes that the children have learned the value of patience and doing things correctly. Brightstar affirms their understanding, and the younglings volunteer to clean up the mess themselves.
Working together, the trio cleans the training area by nightfall. Pleased, Yoda invites them to train with him. Brightstar asks if he will demonstrate how to retrieve the beacon. Yoda agrees to teach them to emulate his actions. After instructing the younglings to wait patiently, he launches an attack and successfully retrieves a beacon from one of the droids. The younglings celebrate, while Yoda observes with satisfaction.
