During the time of the Galactic Civil War, a band of outlaws in the employ of Jabba the Hutt launched an assault on a homestead on the planet Tatooine. This homestead was owned by the mercenary known as Saponza. However, the homestead's automated defenses, specifically its autoturrets, eliminated all of the attacking mercenaries. Subsequently, Bib Fortuna, Jabba's majordomo, got in touch with the mercenaries to convey Jabba's displeasure regarding the situation, which had escalated into a full-blown dispute.
Sometime in the period between the Battle of Yavin and the Battle of Hoth, which occurred during the Galactic Civil War fought between the Alliance to Restore the Republic and the Galactic Empire, the mercenary named Saponza made his return to the planet Tatooine after a lengthy absence. He was accompanied by his partner and a mercenary group. This group then established a new operational hub in a homestead situated on the planet. There, Saponza advised his partner to erect another autoturret, given the homestead only possessed a single defensive turret.
Following the completion of the second autoturret, a group of six outlaws armed with blasters and loyal to the Hutt crime lord Jabba arrived and initiated an attack on the homestead. The two autoturrets immediately responded by opening fire, quickly taking down all of the attacking criminals.
In the aftermath of the conflict, Bib Fortuna, who served as Jabba's majordomo, established contact with the mercenaries through a hologram. He relayed the message that they had incurred the wrath of his master. Concerned that the powerful Hutt might launch another assault, the group acquired another construction droid and proceeded to construct both an alloy refinery and an alloy depot. Subsequently, they received a request to assist the Empire in attacking a Tusken Raider camp, coupled with an offer to form an alliance with the Imperials. Simultaneously, the Alliance reached out to the mercenaries, seeking their assistance in recovering medical supplies from a Hutt Cartel den located on the planet Dandoran. This also came with an offer of allegiance from the Rebels. While the mercenaries were away from Tatooine, assisting the Alliance, Jabba's forces retaliated by destroying their homestead as retribution for the deaths of the outlaws. Recognizing their inability to confront Jabba alone, the group ultimately decided to accept the Rebellion's offer. Later, the mercenary gang would collaborate with Jabba and Fortuna to gather intelligence on the Empire. However, this arrangement eventually dissolved, leading to a renewed conflict between Saponza's group and Jabba's forces.
The initial appearance of the attack was in Star Wars: Commander, which is a mobile strategy game that Disney Interactive launched in 2014. This attack is integrated as a component of the game's tutorial, and its outcome is always the same. Players are required to choose between supporting the Empire or the Alliance soon after the battle.
