Battle of Kr

The conflict known as the Battle of Kr transpired on the moon Kr during the events of the Dark Nest Crisis in 35 ABY. It pitted the forces of the New Jedi Order against the warriors of the Dark Nest.

Context

Following an investigation conducted by Jedi Master Healer Cilghal, the Jedi came to the conclusion that the "Dark Nest," known as Gorog, was a clandestine nest located within the Killik colony. It was under the command of Nightsister Lomi Plo and Dark Jedi Welk. The Gorog sought to engineer a reason for war with the Chiss Ascendancy through manipulation of UnuThul and the Unu hive, using the Force. The Jedi formulated a plan to eradicate the Dark Nest, hoping to peacefully resolve the brewing conflict between the Chiss and the Killiks. Gorog Joiner, formerly the Jedi Knight Alema Rar, was allowed to escape the Jedi Academy on Ossus with a captured Gorog assassin, while a Jedi task force pursued her closely.

The Confrontation

Alema Rar and the Gorog fled to Kr, a moon orbiting the planet Qoribu, which housed the Gorog nest. Jedi Masters Luke and Mara Jade Skywalker pursued them in StealthX starfighters. The Skywalkers encountered significant resistance from dartships and were compelled to land. Upon landing, Luke and Mara infiltrated the Gorog nest, where they were immediately met with a fierce onslaught of Gorog warriors, forcing them to fight their way further into the nest's depths.

Simultaneously, the Millennium Falcon arrived at Qoribu, but was detected by fleets belonging to both the Chiss Ascendancy and the Hapes Consortium. Commander Jagged Fel of the Chiss and Dukat Aleson Gray of Hapes dismissed Leia Organa Solo's assertion that the Jedi could resolve the crisis. As the Hapes fleet moved to advance its position, supposedly to assist the Jedi on Kr, the Chiss mirrored their movements, leading to the commencement of the Battle of Qoribu. The Falcon found itself briefly caught in the crossfire until C-3PO declared their neutrality in the conflict.

Using its repulsor beam, the Falcon cleared a path through a swarm of dartships and landed on Kr, deploying the Solo couple, Jedi Masters Saba Sebatyne, Kyp Durron, Kyle Katarn and Octa Ramis, along with four YVH 5 Bugcruncher war droids. These reinforcements battled their way through Gorog warriors to join forces with the Skywalker Masters.

The conflict escalated as Luke and Mara engaged in duels with Alema Rar, Welk, and the Gorog assassin, respectively. The Force grew darker as the Skywalkers employed Force Choke and Force lightning against their adversaries. A mysterious assailant drained the power cells of the Jedi lightsabers and blasters, while also slowing Luke's movements. Although Luke suspected Lomi Plo, the Jedi were unable to locate her. Realizing that the Jedi's path had taken a wrong turn, Luke ceased using dark side powers and outmaneuvered the Dark Jedi. The battle concluded with Mara defeating the Gorog assassin, who was then killed by Welk in an attempt to destroy Mara with the insect's explosion. Luke eliminated Welk and wounded Alema, but the Twi'lek escaped; Lomi Plo remained missing. Numerous Gorog warriors perished in the battle, while the Jedi lost two Bugcrunchers.

After the Clash

The Falcon, which was left at the landing site, came under enemy fire. The Noghri bodyguards Cakhmaim and Meewalh defended the ship. Jaina Solo and Zekk arrived and eliminated the attackers using their StealthXs, while Jae Juun and Tarfang attempted to hijack the Falcon. C-3PO sent out a distress call, but was deactivated. UnuThul moved his flagship to Kr as the battle of Qoribu stabilized, and stopped the hijacking.

Leia then showed UnuThul the Dark Nest, its captive room that killed Chiss captives to feed the Gorog, and the body of Welk. Leia proposed a compromise to the Colony and the Chiss, which was accepted by both sides and led to the signing of the Qoribu Truce.
