The clash known as the Battle of Qoribu unfolded on the surface of Qoribu amidst the broader Dark Nest Crisis in the year 35 ABY. It pitted forces of the Chiss Ascendancy against a combined force of the Killik Colony and reinforcements from the Hapes Consortium.
The initial Skirmish at Qoribu escalated a border dispute between the Chiss and the Colony. To bolster their defenses, the Chiss military enhanced fortifications along their border. Simultaneously, Jedi Knight Jacen Solo swayed Queen Mother Tenel Ka into dispatching the Hapan Royal Navy to aid the Colony.
UnuThul plotted an ambush against the Chiss, anticipating the arrival of the Hapans. However, his scheme was uncovered by Jedi Joiners Jaina Solo and Zekk. The Jedi pair attempted to persuade UnuThul to seek peace with the Chiss, but he rebuffed their efforts and instead instructed them to rescue Lowbacca and depart from the Colony. Seeking to avert a large-scale conflict, Jaina feigned compliance until she was ignored by the hive mind entities Unu and Taat. She then used the Force to alert her former romantic partner, Commander Jagged Fel of the Chiss, about the impending danger.
Although the Colony's ambush was thwarted, it bought them time as the Chiss reassessed their adversaries. Hapan reinforcements established a presence at Qoribu's northern pole, while the Chiss occupied the southern pole. Approximately 150,000 Colony dartships positioned themselves in the center. The Chiss assault fleet was outnumbered by a two-to-one margin against the Hapes fleet, resulting in a tense standoff on Qoribu until both sides detected the arrival of the Millennium Falcon. Commander Jagged Fel of the Chiss and Dukat Aleson Gray of the Hapes contacted the Falcon, where Leia Organa Solo explained the Jedi strategy to storm the Dark Nest located on Kr.
Gray saw an opportunity to enhance his standing with the Queen Mother by having the Hapes fleet seemingly "rescue the Masters Skywalker from the Gorog." Consequently, he ordered two Hapan Nova-class cruisers to approach Kr. Determined to prevent the enemy from gaining a foothold, Fel dispatched a Chiss Star Destroyer accompanied by several cruisers to intercept the advancing Hapes vessels. Despite Organa Solo's orders, neither advance force retreated, and the Gorog dartships on Kr opened fire.
Two additional Hapan Battle Dragons and a dozen Novas advanced, prompting the Chiss to respond with another dozen cruisers. Communication ceased, and the Battle of Qoribu commenced.
The Chiss and Hapes advance forces engaged in close-quarters combat within Kr's orbit, with capital ships trading turbolaser fire and starfighter squadrons vying for control of attack vectors. The Dark Nest focused its attacks on the Falcon on the planet's surface. Despite the intense crossfire, the Falcon successfully landed on Kr and became involved in the Battle of Kr.
The Colony entered the fray, with the Great Swarm engulfing the Hapes forces at Qoribu's war-torn rings to act as a living shield for their allies. The Swarm then decimated the Chiss starfighter squadrons with overwhelming numbers. Although each Chiss turbolaser blast destroyed numerous dartships, the Swarm maintained its formation.
Jaina and Zekk, piloting their StealthXs with an additional one remotely controlled by Jaina, searched for Lowbacca within the Chiss fleet. As UnuThul's flagship, a Lancer-class frigate, joined the battle, the Swarm eliminated the Chiss escorts and crippled a Chiss cruiser. Meanwhile, the Hapes advanced to exploit the opening created by the Killiks in the Chiss lines, pushing the Chiss back.
The Chiss executed a retreat towards the Qoribu southern pole, but the Jedi Joiner pair revealed it to be a Bothan fade tactic intended to lure the Colony and the Hapes into open space. The pair attempted to warn UnuThul, but the Prime Unu was preoccupied with coordinating the battle and unable to join their Force Meld. Taat hive members were too distant to access the knowledge through the hive mind. Unu attempted to dismiss the pair, fearing they would betray the Colony again. Leia then contacted Jaina and relayed the situation on Kr, reinforcing the pair's conviction in the Dark Nest's treachery.
UnuThul eventually disregarded Unu's objections and spoke with the pair. Despite verbally denying the Chiss's use of a Bothan fade, the Great Swarm remained at Qoribu and spread out beneath the southern pole, with the Hapes providing support behind the dartships. Realizing the fade had failed, the Chiss redeployed their fleet into a three-layered defensive formation beyond enemy firing range.
During this redeployment, the Jedi Joiners lost the remotely controlled StealthX to Chiss fire. However, the Chiss lost track of the pair, and the dreadnaught holding Lowbacca retreated and jumped to Chiss space.
Unable to rescue Lowbacca, Jaina and Zekk traveled to Kr and eliminated several Gorog warriors who were attacking the Falcon. UnuThul moved his flagship to Kr as the battle reached a stalemate, arriving in time to prevent Jae Juun and Tarfang from commandeering the Falcon.
After landing, the three Joiners entered the Gorog nest. Leia showed UnuThul the Dark Nest, its captive chamber where Chiss prisoners were killed to feed the Gorog, and the body of Welk. Leia proposed a compromise to the Colony and the Chiss, which both sides accepted, leading to the signing of the Qoribu Truce. Jagged Fel personally released Lowbacca to the Jedi Order.
