Beon Beonel, a male hybrid of Alder-Espirion descent, resided on the planet of Espirion. He held the position of chief for the Alder-Espirion populace. In 0 ABY, Princess Leia Organa of Alderaan dispatched emissaries to Espirion, imploring them to participate in the rescue of Alderaanian survivors following the Galactic Empire's destruction of their homeworld.
Upon encountering the Alderaanian delegates, Jora Astane and Uwa Pareece, Beonel promptly declined the proposition, having observed Astane's disgust towards his mixed heritage. Despite Pareece's subsequent attempt to initiate discussions, Beonel remained unconvinced until he received a communication from Organa addressed to the numerous Alderaanians who had rallied to her cause. This message arrived amidst an attack by an Imperial Star Destroyer. Subsequently, Beonel dispatched the starship Espirion Multi to assist the Alderaanians in eliminating the Star Destroyer, thereby joining their ranks after the conflict.
Beonel then stayed with the fleet, which evolved into a reserve force for the Alliance to Restore the Republic, maintaining a discreet presence throughout the Galactic Civil War against the Empire. Between 3 ABY and 4 ABY, [Ellian Zahra](/article/ellian_zahra], a former Imperial officer, and her associated group of raiders launched an attack on the fleet. However, Beonel was among those who successfully evaded capture. Following this event, the fleet decided to disperse. After Organa's victory over Zahara, Beonel engaged in a holographic conversation with the princess, elucidating the decision made by him and the other survivors to pursue separate paths.

Beon Beonel served as the chief for the Alder-Espirions, a species resulting from the intermingling of human immigrants from the planet Alderaan and the indigenous Espirions of their homeworld, Espirion. In 0 ABY, in the aftermath of Alderaan's destruction by the Galactic Empire, Alderaanian Princess Leia Organa embarked on a mission to retrieve Alderaanians who had survived the catastrophe by being away from the planet, as they were being hunted by the Empire. The Alder-Espirion community was among those she intended to visit and enlist in her cause; however, she had to abandon her plans to visit the planet because Imperial forces pursuing her demanded she exchange herself for an Alderaanian hostage on the planet Skaradosh.
Instead, Organa sent two representatives to engage with the Alder-Espirion: Jora Astane and Uwa Pareece. As the leader of his people, Beonel participated in a meeting with the pair organized by the Espirion Consul [Rill](/article/rill]. He immediately noticed Astane's disgust towards his mixed lineage and terminated the discussions, unwilling to accept such prejudice despite Pareece's efforts to convince him that Astane's views were not representative of the Alderaanian survivors as a whole.

Pareece then arranged for Rill to contact Beonel, promising a personal meeting with Organa. However, the chief remained uninterested in collaborating with the Alderaanians, conveying this sentiment when they encountered him boarding a vessel at one of Espirion's spaceports. Subsequently, the pair returned to the Alderaanian fleet assembled above Espirion to meet with Organa upon her return from Skaradosh. Organa's arrival was followed by the emergence of an Imperial Star Destroyer that had also been present at Skaradosh, compelling the princess to address the Alderaanian fleet with a speech cautioning them about the impending danger and inspiring them to fight.
Organa's astromech droid, R2-D2, transmitted the speech to the surface of Espirion without Organa's knowledge, and Beonel was among those who witnessed the transmission. Moved by its content, Beonel dispatched the starship Espirion Multi to aid the Alderaanian fleet, and with the vessel's assistance, the Alderaanians destroyed the Star Destroyer. Beonel then joined the ensuing celebrations and met with Organa, asserting that Espirion did not fear the Empire's retribution for its actions, as the planet was heavily defended. He and his people then united with the Alderaanian survivors, who soon began voting for a new leader after Organa left to return to the Rebel Alliance. Beonel and the Alderaanians eventually departed Espirion to seek out a new world.

As the Galactic Civil War between the Empire and the Alliance to Restore the Republic intensified, Beonel remained with the fleet, which was designated as reserves within the Alliance but maintained a low profile and avoided heavily trafficked shipping lanes. The survivors routinely checked in with the rebellion, which Organa was a part of, but used the pilot Lieutenant Evaan Verlaine as the sole point of contact.
Between 3 ABY and 4 ABY, former Imperial commander [Ellian Zahra](/article/ellian_zahra], now in league with a group of raiders, attacked the fleet in an attempt to ensnare Organa, who had disgraced her in the eyes of the Empire and left her to die. The raiders seized one of the Alderaanians' ships and destroyed a few others, but the rest managed to escape. Beonel was among those who escaped, but Astane was killed. In the wake of the attack, the surviving Alderaanians held a vote and decided to disband the fleet and reintegrate into the galaxy, as clinging so tightly to their identities as survivors of a tragedy was preventing them from moving on and becoming anything more.
The ships scattered in different directions but failed to check in with the Alliance, prompting Organa, the Jedi Luke Skywalker, and Verlaine to attempt to locate the fleet. This led to them falling into Zahara's trap, where the Imperial lied to Organa and claimed she had killed everyone in the fleet. The rebels then defeated and killed Zahara, after which Verlaine kept checking the fleet's emergency channels until she got a hit, which put her in contact with Beonel. The Alder-Espirion then spoke via hologram with Organa, who was thrilled to see him again after such a long time. Beonel explained the fleet's decision to split up to her and reminded her that Alderaan still survived in all of them. He speculated that perhaps things would change when the Empire was defeated, then said goodbye to the princess.

Beon Beonel was an Alder-Espirion male characterized by gray hair, green-and-yellow eyes, and red-and-black skin. Anticipating potential prejudice from the Alderaanian representatives due to his hybrid nature, he was disinclined to entertain their offer when his suspicions proved valid. He was deeply offended and believed that his people should not have to tolerate any bigotry, even if it only came from a minority of the other Alderaanians.
Within the speech she gave to the Alderaanian fleet, Leia Organa described the peaceful, unprejudiced Alderaanian society she hoped to lead, one that Beonel had dreamed of living in for his entire life. He was so swayed by the speech that he aided and joined the Alderaanian survivors despite the bigots among them and the attention it would bring from the Empire. When later explaining the separation of the fleet to Organa, Beonel claimed that although the Alderaanians had survived, they had not let themselves live while so defined by their tragedy, reassuring her that Alderaan still survived among the now more disparate Alderaanians.
Beon Beonel made his initial appearance in the fourth issue of the 2015 comic miniseries titled Star Wars: Princess Leia. The issue was penned by Mark Waid, illustrated by Terry Dodson, and published by Marvel Comics on June 3, 2015. In one panel of the fifth issue, released on July 1, 2015, Beonel's eyes are erroneously depicted as white with blue pupils instead of their correct yellow and green coloration.
