Broadside served as Shadow Three within Shadow Squadron, a Galactic Republic starfighter squadron led by Jedi General Anakin Skywalker during the Clone Wars; he was a clone trooper pilot.
Broadside was seen with Matchstick aboard Skywalker's Acclamator-class assault ship as Jedi General Anakin Skywalker's forces made preparations for the Battle of Teth which took place in 22 BBY.

During the events of the Malevolence Campaign, Admiral Wullf Yularen and Jedi General Anakin Skywalker briefed Broadside and Shadow Squadron while aboard the Resolute. Skywalker informed Broadside and the other pilots that their assignment was to strike the Malevolence, specifically targeting its bridge in order to eliminate the commander, General Grievous. After the briefing concluded, Broadside and Matchstick reassured Jedi General Plo Koon that their squadron was ready for the mission, emphasizing their ability to maintain maximum effectiveness while sustaining minimal casualties.
Following Grievous' attack on a medical convoy within the Ryndellia system, Broadside, along with the rest of Shadow Squadron, Skywalker, and Koon, embarked on the Balmorra Run to reach the Kaliida Shoals Medical Center before the arrival of the Malevolence.
At a later point during the Clone Wars, Broadside once again flew with Skywalker and Shadow Squadron, this time participating in the defense against Grievous' fleet during an attack on Kamino, the clone homeworld.
The character of Broadside made his debut in "Shadow of Malevolence," which was the third episode of Season One of the animated television show Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Dee Bradley Baker provided the voice for Broadside, as he did for all the clone characters in the series.
