Calodan, a walled city, served as the capital of the forest planet known as Corvus. Following the Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin's assistance to Bo-Katan Kryze in acquiring weaponry from an Imperial cruiser, Kryze informed him that the former Jedi Ahsoka Tano could be located within its walls.
Upon their arrival, Djarin, along with his foundling, were escorted by members of the scout guards, the faceless enforcers of Magistrate Morgan Elsbeth's brigade, led by the mercenary Lang. Elsbeth gave Djarin the task of assassinating Tano, accusing her of murdering several scout guards and seeking the location of Elsbeth's "master." Promising her spear crafted from pure beskar as remuneration to the Mandalorian, Elsbeth furnished the bounty hunter with the coordinates of the Jedi's whereabouts.
Having previously encountered each other in the wilderness of Corvus and formed an agreement concerning the training of the foundling Grogu in the Jedi arts, Djarin and Tano freed the city from Magistrate Morgan Elsbeth and her forces. Subsequently, Wing assumed the leadership position, donning Elsbeth's cloak as a symbol of authority.
Calodan was initially referenced in Chapter 11: The Heiress and made its debut appearance in Chapter 13: The Jedi of the 2019 Disney+ television program The Mandalorian. When Dave Filoni was in the process of creating the setting for "The Jedi," he took inspiration from the wildfires raging in Northern California, where he resided. Filoni believed that the setting would evoke a truly haunting and ominous atmosphere. The city's name bears a resemblance to Dune's Caladan, the ancestral home of House Atreides.
