Cherriielle

Ella Poworoznik, who is professionally known as Cherriielle, is a Canadian artist who was born in Alberta, Canada on January 3, 2001. She created a variant cover for the third installment of the 2023 comic series called Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures. This particular issue was authored by Daniel José Older, with illustrations by Harvey Tolibao, and it was brought to the public by Dark Horse Comics as a part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's Phase III on February 14, 2024. Later, Poworoznik produced a variant cover for the eighth issue of the same series. This issue was also written by Older and illustrated by Tolibao, with its release occurring on August 7 of the same year. The initial announcement of her involvement in the cover was made on March 22, 2024, and the artwork for the issue was subsequently revealed on April 16, following which she shared a textless version of the artwork on Twitter.

Poworoznik was responsible for the creation of the main cover artwork for The High Republic Adventures Phase III - The Wedding Spectacular, which is a one-shot comic book under the The High Republic Adventures banner. Older penned the issue, and Dark Horse Comics published it on December 18, 2024. She also shared the textless version of the cover on Twitter. Upon the issue's release, Poworoznik conveyed her delight in contributing to its creation. Furthermore, she is slated to contribute as an artist to the 2025 reference book Star Wars: Women of the Galaxy: Updated and Expanded, which is being written by Amy Ratcliffe.

Poworoznik has been a Star Wars enthusiast for a long time, particularly appreciating the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project, and enjoying its inclusive approach to making Star Wars accessible to all. On June 28, 2022, she jokingly expressed her desire to create a The High Republic cover on Twitter. After several Star Wars creators endorsed her and shared the post—which featured an image of the Jedi characters Reath Silas and Cohmac Vitus—the artist was contacted by Matt Martin from the Lucasfilm Story Group. Martin then forwarded her portfolio to individuals involved in Star Wars publishing. Subsequently, she had a meeting with Michael Siglain of Disney–Lucasfilm Press during Celebration Europe, which took place from April 7 to 10th in 2023.

Later that year, in October, the artist was commissioned to design a cover for Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures because Older wanted to collaborate with her on a variant cover. Poworoznik received a concise list of sentence-long concepts to base her sketches on. Once a concept was chosen, she proceeded to create the artwork for the issue. She was particularly thrilled to depict the Mikkian character Zeen Mrala, as she was among her favorite characters. Regarding the cover for The High Republic Adventures Phase III - The Wedding Spectacular, Poworoznik expressed her appreciation to Older for granting her the opportunity to design the cover, which featured the wedding dresses of Mrala and the human character Lula Talisola.

Poworoznik also frequently creates Star Wars artwork for her own enjoyment, for friends, or as commissioned work, and she cosplays as characters from the franchise at conventions. She draws particular inspiration from the works of Star Wars artists Grant Griffin and Corey Brickley. Star Wars author Alyssa Wong commissioned Poworoznik to create artwork of the Jedi-turned-vigilante Ruu's design, and thanked Poworoznik for a piece inspired by The High Republic: Escape from Valo, a middle grade novel Wong had co-written with Older, which was released on January 30, 2024. Poworoznik's Escape from Valo piece portrays Jedi Initiate Gavi in combat with the young Nihil Driggit Parse, who was formerly Gavi's closest friend.
