A human individual, designated as a TIE pilot, operated under the codename "Dark Three" while serving within the Galactic Empire's Dark Squadron during the period spanning 3 ABY to 4 ABY. Along with their squadron, they attacked the Imperial light cruiser known as Forerunner II as part of their assigned task to eliminate Tarl Sokoli, who was suspected of being a Crimson Dawn informant. During the engagement, Jeela Brebtin - callsign "Dark Two" - intervened to save Dark Three from an enemy TIE fighter, but Dark Three was subsequently destroyed by the cruiser's cannons.
During the time when the Galactic Empire reigned, this human first attended an Imperial Academy, which then led to their career as a TIE pilot. Eventually, between the years of 3 ABY and 4 ABY, they found themselves assigned to the Dark Squadron of the Empire, where they adopted the callsign "Dark Three" and piloted a TIE defender. This squadron answered to the Sith assassin known as Ochi of Bestoon, and was stationed on the Executor-class Star Dreadnought Executor, which served as the flagship for the Sith Lord Darth Vader. Dark Squadron received orders from the cyborg Beilert Valance, callsign "Dark One," who served as their command. Valance had been captured by Vader and forced into service by the Sith Lord. The squadron was given the mission to eliminate Imperial Admiral Tarl Sokoli, who was believed to have been recruited by the Crimson Dawn syndicate as a mole.
Outside the Eriadu system, "Dark Three" and the rest of the squadron located Sokoli, who was aboard the light cruiser Forerunner II. Sokoli had been rerouted there under Vader's orders. Valance immediately ordered the squadron to attack as the cruiser launched its own complement of TIE fighters. Dark Three expressed discomfort at engaging other Imperial [pilots](/article/pilot], noting the possibility of having attended the Imperial Academy with some of them. "Dark Four" responded by pointing out that the mission originated from Vader, and questioned whether Three wished to raise the issue with the Sith Lord himself.

During the battle, Dark Three found themselves pursued by a TIE fighter and requested assistance from their squadron. Jeela Brebtin, known as "Dark Two," destroyed the pursuing fighter and instructed Three to cease complaining. Dark Three expressed their gratitude, only to be reprimanded for using her real name instead of her callsign. After "Dark Five" disabled the Forerunner II's hyperdrive, the cruiser began firing its cannons at the attacking squadron. The rear cannons of the Forerunner II pushed Dark Three into the path of its front cannons, resulting in the destruction of both the pilot and their fighter. Despite the loss of Dark Three, and later Dark Four, Valance successfully eliminated Sokoli and completed the squadron's objective.
Dark Three wore a black flight suit in addition to a black helmet displaying gray markings, and a life support unit was attached.
The character "Dark Three" made their first appearance in the nineteenth issue of the Star Wars: Bounty Hunters comic series. The issue was written by Ethan Sacks, the illustrations were created by Ramon Bachs, and it was published by Marvel Comics on December 29, 2021.
