Anakin Skywalker, later known as Darth Vader, piloted a green-hued Eta-2 Actis-class light interceptor during his initial period as a Sith apprentice.
Following the slaughter at the Jedi Temple located on Coruscant, the newly titled Darth Vader piloted this starfighter from the Temple to Padmé Amidala's residence. With R2-D2 as his companion, Vader subsequently journeyed to the volcanic world of Mustafar with the intent of eliminating the Separatist leaders. The craft remained on Mustafar for more than a decade, because Vader's duel with Obi-Wan Kenobi left him too incapacitated to fly it off the planet.

In 3 ABY, Darth Vader, having escaped from the Eye of Webbish Bog with a Sith wayfinder, paused to recover near his old vehicle. Soon after, Ochi of Bestoon discovered the injured Vader and voiced his astonishment at Vader's continued existence. After battling and defeating the Droid Crush Pirates of Bestoon and then capturing Ochi, Vader repaired the Eta-2 and employed the wayfinder to navigate to the Red Honeycomb Zone with the goal of reaching Exegol. Upon arrival, he faced an assault from Imperial Navy forces dispatched to intercept him, but Vader utilized his Eta-2 to destroy all attacking TIE fighters and then encountered a summa-verminoth subspecies. By piloting his Eta-2 into the Red Zone, Vader experienced Force visions of both the past and possible future, ultimately managing to pass through and crash-land on Exegol. Subsequently, he and Ochi, who was inside a pod attached by the Sith Lord to the underside of the fighter, disembarked onto the planet's surface, where Vader then seized control of the summa-verminoth's mind using the Force.
