Davin Felth was a human who fought for the Galactic Empire during the Galactic Civil War, holding the rank of sergeant within the sandtrooper ranks. After Imperial forces captured the Rebel cruiser Tantive IV above the planet Tatooine, two droids managed to escape. Felth was part of a squad of stormtroopers dispatched to the desert to locate them. During the search, Felth successfully discovered proof of the droids' presence.

Davin Felth, a human, served the Galactic Empire as a stormtrooper sergeant in the Stormtrooper Corps during the Galactic Civil War, which pitted them against the Alliance to Restore the Republic. In 0 BBY, the Empire captured the Rebel CR90 corvette Tantive IV over Tatooine. The planet was the location where the vessel was taken while carrying plans for the Empire's Death Star superweapon. The droids R2-D2 and C-3PO evaded capture and fled the vessel in an escape pod, landing on the surface of Tatooine.
The Empire, eager to retrieve the plans, sent sandtroopers, including Felth, into Tatooine's deserts to find the droids. The troopers located the escape pod. There, Felth found a metal O-ring that had come loose from C-3PO's left knee joint. Felth secured the evidence and informed his commander. Despite these efforts, the droids successfully left Tatooine and delivered the plans to the Alliance.
While in the desert, Felth wore stormtrooper armor with a white pauldron, which signified his rank as sergeant.
Davin Felth's initial appearance was in the 1977 film Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, the first movie in the Star Wars original trilogy. Disc jockeys Terence McGovern, Jerry Walter, Scott Beach, and Morgan Upton provided the voices for all the stormtroopers in the film via walkie-talkie. Lucasfilm sound designer Ben Burtt then recorded these voices. McGovern has a personal Web site that lists all the dialogue he performed in the film, but Felth's single line is not included.
Within the new Star Wars canon, the character's identification first occurred in "Dominate the Desert," an article published on the Fantasy Flight Games website in 2019. His name originated in Star Wars Legends, initially appearing in When the Desert Wind Turns: The Stormtrooper's Tale, a short story by Doug Beason in the 1995 anthology Tales from the Mos Eisley Cantina. The book also portrays Felth as the stormtrooper with an orange pauldron in Chalmun's Spaceport Cantina. However, in current Star Wars canon, this trooper is Wanten, as revealed in "Born in the Storm," a short story by Daniel José Older in the 2018 anthology, From a Certain Point of View.
