Destruction of Tah'Nuhna

The demolition of Tah'Nuhna, alternatively referred to as the plundering of Tah'Nuhna, constituted an offensive executed by the First Order against the neutral world of Tah'Nuhna due to their assistance to the Resistance.

Background

The inhabitants of the ice planet Tah'Nuhna situated within the Mid Rim Territories, known as the Tah'Nuhna, were a serene species that had consistently maintained a neutral position in galactic politics since the era of the Hundred-Year Darkness, a strategy that successfully shielded their world from involvement in the major conflicts of the galaxy. Indeed, even the Galactic Empire refrained from invading the planet. Adhering to their custom of aiding those in need, they welcomed the Resistance to their planet in 34 ABY, providing refuge following the Battle of Crait. However, the First Order tracked a Resistance transmission back to the planet and subsequently dispatched an assault group under the command of General Armitage Hux to penalize the Tah'Nuhna for their audacity in assisting the Resistance, an act which the First Order deemed a violation of neutrality.

With the intention of pillaging the planet rather than a full-scale invasion, the assault group consisted of several Resurgent-class Star Destroyers, including the Finalizer, a Mandator IV-class Siege Dreadnought, and a complement of TIE/se Bombers and snowtroopers. Upon the First Order fleet's arrival above a Tah'Nuhna city, it was observed by a Tah'Nuhna engaged in work on one of the world's glass palaces, structures that had been built across generations. The appearance of the First Order fleet led one Tah'Nuhna to recognize that their world was about to acquire a new legacy, one that contrasted sharply with their history of peace and neutrality. A Tah'Nuhan leader did make contact with Hux, beseeching him to call off the attack, but her words were ignored.

Devastation

First Order TIE Bombers attack the city

The Mandator IV-class Siege Dreadnought initiated the assault by firing upon the city, an action that was immediately followed by the deployment of snowtroopers with orders to eliminate any civilians attempting to escape the besieged metropolis. As the snowtroopers opened fire on the populace, TIE/se Bombers were launched and proceeded to attack the city from the skies in a bombing raid. One First Order TIE Fighter Pilot participating in the operation as a bomber pilot was known by the moniker "Grudge." As explosions and devastation engulfed the city and drew nearer to her tower, the Tah'Nuhna leader transmitted a message to anyone within range, appealing for assistance, only to have several missiles obliterate the tower. The leader perished in the resulting explosion.

Repercussions

Kaydel Ko Connix running to inform Leia of the destruction

At the newly established Resistance Camp on Anoat, Kaydel Ko Connix witnessed the destruction of Tah'Nuhna. She subsequently hurried to General Leia Skywalker Organa Solo and conveyed the news of the population's demise. Leia was deeply saddened by the report, observing that the Tah'Nuhna had paid the ultimate price for their compassion. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, Leia assembled a team to journey to the water planet of Mon Cala in order to plead with the Mon Calamari for ships to reconstitute the Resistance.
