Dhen-Moh genocides

The Dhen-Moh genocides represent a series of mass killings perpetrated by the Galactic Empire on the world of Dhen-Moh. Darth Vader, the Sith Lord, participated in these events, killing numerous individuals with his signature lightsaber, an action that would forever stain his legacy. Several individuals drew parallels between the horrors of Dhen-Moh and other large-scale genocidal acts carried out by the Empire.

The genocides

Between the years of 19 BBY and 3 ABY, the Galactic Empire commanded the systematic destruction of the population on Dhen-Moh. The Sith Lord known as Darth Vader played a significant role in this murder, employing his lightsaber to slaughter countless beings.

Aftermath

The historian Beaumont Kin compared the genocides on Dhen-Moh with the extermination of the Geonosians.

Everi Chalis, a former Imperial governor who defected and joined the Rebel Alliance's 61st Mobile Infantry, recounted his involvement in these events to First Sergeant Hazram Namir of the rebellion in 3 ABY. Later, in 4 ABY, Yrica Quell, an Imperial pilot who switched her allegiance to the New Republic, the Alliance's successor, during a conversation, mentally linked the Dhen-Moh genocides, along with the tragedies that befell the planets Alderaan and Lasan, to Operation: Cinder, another Empire-sanctioned genocide. Quell distinguished the former genocides from Operation: Cinder by characterizing the former as ruthless and the latter as cruel.

In 35 ABY, Beaumont Kin, a historian, wrote in his book titled The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire that Darth Vader's use of his lightsaber on Dhen-Moh achieved a similar level of mass destruction as the Empire's deployment of chemical weapons to exterminate the Geonosian species around 9 BBY. Kin further suggested that the Empire resorted to such atrocities because they believed mass violence provided a straightforward solution to any given problem.

Behind the scenes

The Dhen-Moh genocides were initially referenced in the 2015 novel titled Battlefront: Twilight Company, penned by Alexander Freed.
