Droid uprising

The droid uprising represents a significant assembly of droids, orchestrated by Captain Ought-Six from the Droid Crush Pirates of Bestoon. Their primary objective was the assassination of the Sith Lord Darth Vader, who had previously annihilated every droid that became a member of the movement. The droids exploited an Imperial edict issued by Galactic Emperor Sheev Palpatine, who was aiming to evaluate Vader during the Force Wave, to eliminate Vader himself. However, ZED-6-7, a crucial figure within the uprising, secretly operated as a double agent for Vader within the ranks. Following the conflict with the droid uprising, Vader reprogrammed the droids from the uprising to suit his purposes. While many droids were undergoing repairs on the Executor, they were infected by the Scourge, compelling Vader and the uninfected members of the uprising to fight against those who had been corrupted.

Subsequently, Vader attempted to seize control of the Scourge, aiming to command its legions of droids and establish his own army, which he could ultimately use to defeat his Sith Master, Darth Sidious. Nevertheless, the sheer pressure of managing such a vast number of droid minds proved overwhelming. Consequently, Vader shifted his focus to locating a team of rebel cyborgs, intending to manipulate them by implanting droid brains into their neuro-ports. Vader and ZED-6-7 reasoned that battle droids could not betray Vader due to their programming, but they lacked the skill of organic warriors. Conversely, organic soldiers, such as Vader's personal death troopers, possessed independent thought and could betray their leader; during the Scourge of Coruscant, those death troopers had, in fact, turned against Vader under Sidious's orders. Thus, Vader and ZED conspired to merge the best aspects of both: Vader would wield the rebel cyborgs' power and ensure their loyalty through the installed droid brains. The cyborgs themselves, requiring consciousness for their cybernetics to function, would be trapped in a horrifying state of being unable to control their own bodies. Throughout this, Vader maintained the allegiance of remaining droid uprising members, including ZED and the Crush Pirates. Vader deployed a number of the battle droids under his command in the attack on Exegol during his alliance with the Schism Imperial.
