Duro

Duro, situated in the Core Worlds, was a planet with a moderate temperature and served as the original homeworld for the Duros species.

Description

Within the Core Worlds lay Duro, a planet characterized by its temperate climate. Its location was specified by the coordinates M-11 on the Standard Galactic Grid, along the Corellian Trade Spine.

History

Prior to 10 BBY, the Lost King of Duro reigned as the king over Duro. The Core Worlds Duro sector shared its designation.

During the Clone Wars era, the Jedi Knight known as Pablo-Jill engaged in an intense duel above Duro with Separatist General Grievous within a collapsing satellite city. This duel resulted in Pablo-Jill's injury, and Grievous took his lightsaber from the wreckage. On another occasion during the conflict, Senator Padmé Amidala informed her husband Anakin Skywalker of her impending trip to Duro, while she was in fact traveling to [Clabron](/article/clabron], a neutral world, attempting to integrate them into the Galactic Republic.

Following the declared establishment of the Galactic Empire, Duro was among the first planets in the Core Worlds to be brought under Imperial dominion. Many Duros, becoming outlaws from their homeworld, subsequently joined the Rebel Alliance.

Inhabitants

The Duros species originated on Duro, including the notorious bounty hunter Cad Bane, who was prominent throughout the Clone Wars. As a result of the predators on Duro, the Duros developed an evolutionary trait where a foul-smelling and awful-tasting oil would accumulate along their ribs when under significant stress.

Locations

A city in the form of a satellite was in orbit around Duro.

Behind the scenes

Duro was initially referenced within the Hostage Crisis featurette found in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars The Complete Season One Blu-ray and DVD collection released in 2009.
