The Exile II, a streamlined starship, served the Stranger, a Sith during the High Republic Era. His acolyte, the Sith assassin Mae-ho "Mae" Aniseya, employed it on her quest to hunt down four Jedi who were previously stationed on her homeworld of Brendok. Aboard the Exile II, the assassin journeyed to the planet Ueda, where she killed Jedi Master [Indara], and the world Olega, where she killed Master Torbin. Later, she and her associate "Qimir," secretly her Sith Master, used the vessel to travel to the planet Khofar to hunt Master Kelnacca. Subsequently, the Stranger utilized the Exile II to transport Aniseya's sister, Verosha "Osha" Aniseya, to the planet where he maintained his operations. The pair then pursued Mae to Brendok aboard the Exile II, where Osha made the decision to train under the Stranger's tutelage.

The sleek starship Exile II measured 60.2 meters in length. Its design featured a rectangular form factor, incorporating two cockpits located within its aft fuselage, enabling two individuals to [pilot](/article/pilot] the craft. These cockpits flanked a ball turret, and a smaller bridged section extended outward at the front. Two downward-pointing fins were positioned at the ship's front, mirrored by two similar fins pointing upward at the rear. A single engine powered the Exile II from its rear, and it also possessed a hyperdrive system.
A communication system linked the two cockpits of the vessel, and one cockpit could disable the other's power. Each cockpit was equipped with a display screen capable of showing a topographical map, including the positions of other ships. The Exile II also had exterior lights. Upon landing, the Exile II executed a smooth descent, coming to rest on its front fins and a landing gear that deployed from the underside of its back section.

During the High Republic Era, the Sith known as the Stranger was the owner of the Exile II. Operating from an island on a planet, the Stranger trained Mae-ho "Mae" Aniseya, a Sith assassin, as his acolyte. In 132 BBY, Aniseya made use of the Exile II after her Master tasked her with hunting down and killing four Jedi who had been stationed on her homeworld of Brendok sixteen years earlier. The assassin piloted the Exile II to the planet Ueda, leaving it perched on a cliff edge near a village, where she killed Jedi Master Indara. Subsequently, she returned to her Master's planet for a meeting before heading to the planet Olega, where she parked the ship on the coastline close to the city that housed the world's Jedi temple.
On Olega, Aniseya, with the help of her associate "Qimir"—unbeknownst to Aniseya, her Master—killed Master Torbin, but was confronted by a group of Jedi including Master Sol, another of her targets. The following morning, Aniseya escaped Olega with Qimir's assistance, and the pair traveled aboard the Exile II to the Outer Rim planet Khofar, where the Wookiee Jedi Master Kelnacca resided. After landing the Exile II in a valley, Aniseya and Qimir disembarked and prepared to venture into Khofar's forests. When Aniseya, upon learning that her sister, Verosha "Osha" Aniseya, was still alive, decided to surrender to Kelnacca, the Stranger murdered the Wookiee himself and attacked the Jedi team who had arrived on Khofar to apprehend Mae, killing all except Sol.
Later, the Stranger used the Exile II to transport Osha—who had been left behind after Mae knocked her unconscious and switched clothing to impersonate her sister—from Khofar to his base planet, parking the vessel on a rocky platform connected by a walkway that crossed a short stretch of the ocean to his island. After Osha confronted the Stranger—by which time the tide had come in, isolating the ship from the island—he suggested she could swim to the Exile II before sunset or wait for the tide to recede. Osha considered the vessel but ultimately chose to stay on the planet.

Upon learning of Mae's location on Brendok, Osha expressed her desire to pursue her sister, but the Stranger stated his intention to use his own ship. They decided to travel together, although Osha refused to reveal their destination before arrival. Osha and the Stranger crossed to the now-accessible Exile II, departed the planet, and traveled to Brendok. As they piloted the vessel into Brendok's atmosphere, the Stranger attempted to engage Osha in conversation, but she deactivated his cockpit's power. Noticing on her display that Sol and Mae had already arrived, Osha headed for a landing site near the fortress where the sisters had previously lived with a coven of witches. After Osha killed Sol in anger and chose to train with the Stranger, the pair departed Brendok in the Exile II, returning to the planet where the Stranger resided.
The Sith known as the Stranger owned the Exile II, and Mae Aniseya used it during her missions, relying on the ship for safe passage between destinations. The Stranger, disguised as Qimir, accompanied her in the Exile II during the journey to Khofar, and later reclaimed the Exile II to transport Osha to his planet. Subsequently, the two flew the ship together to Brendok and back.

The Exile II made its debut in "Lost / Found" and "Revenge / Justice," the initial two episodes of the Disney+ series The Acolyte, which were broadcast concurrently on June 4, 2024. Before The Acolyte's release, the vessel was initially shown in a trailer for the series on May 4 of that year. The Exile II was later identified in an entry on the StarWars.com Databank, released alongside the episode guide for the series' fourth episode, "Day," on June 19, 2024.
A three-foot miniature of the vessel was created by the art department and production designer Kevin Jenkins. For the shot at the beginning of "Revenge / Justice" depicting the Exile II parked on Olega, the miniature was filmed on location on the Portuguese island of Madeira.
