Galney, known as Lady Galney, was a Hapan female who served as one of the most trusted aides to Queen Mother Tenel Ka Djo. In the year 40 ABY, a failed assassination attempt targeted the Queen Mother, an act orchestrated by the Heritage Council, a group of Hapan traitors. This council was headed by the Ducha of the Hapan moon Terephon, who was Galney's older sister. During this time, several Jedi, including Grand Master Luke Skywalker, visited the Hapes Consortium, Galney's native region. These Jedi suspected Galney, who was fiercely protective of the Queen Mother like a hawk, of being a spy and possibly the mastermind behind the assassination plot. Although she was not directly involved in the coup, Lady Galney had unknowingly shared confidential information with one of her consorts, who was a traitor. This information was then used by the Heritage Council in their attempt to overthrow the Queen Mother, culminating in an attack during the battle of Hapes. Following the traitors' defeat, Galney was spared from any punishment.
Born into the Galney family of nobles, Lady Galney was a Hapan by birth. The Ducha of Terephon was her older sister. Galney regarded herself as the best assistant to Queen Mother [Tenel Ka Djo](/article/tenel_ka_djo], a former Jedi Knight, and served as her aide.
An attempt on Tenel Ka's life occurred in 40 ABY, but she survived with the assistance of Han Solo and his wife Leia Organa Solo. Shortly after, Jaina Solo, Solo's daughter and a Jedi Knight, arrived with her partner Zekk, also a Jedi. Galney openly expressed her belief that the Solos were responsible for the attack, claiming that Hapan nobles had witnessed them attacking the Queen Mother's guards. Despite the Jedi Knights' insistence on the Solos' innocence, Galney maintained that they were terrorists.
Later, Jacen Solo, a Jedi Knight and leader of the Galactic Alliance Guard, journeyed to the Hapes Consortium to investigate the assassination attempt. He summoned Galney aboard his ship, the Anakin Solo, accompanied by his Jedi apprentice Ben Skywalker, the security droid DD-11A, and Allana, the Chume'da and daughter of Tenel Ka. Solo tasked Skywalker with fulfilling any of Galney's requests to ensure the Queen Mother's safety and instructed Galney to return to her guest suite. However, Galney insisted on remaining with Tenel Ka, who agreed with Solo and instructed Galney to take Allana and DD-11A with her. Solo suspected Galney of involvement in the assassination attempt, but Tenel Ka dismissed his suspicion, citing Galney's family as some of her strongest supporters.
While Galney was on the Anakin Solo, two more Jedi arrived. Grand Master Luke Skywalker and his wife, Mara Jade Skywalker, both Masters, arrived on a Star Destroyer to meet with Tenel Ka and Jacen Solo. Tenel Ka, accompanied by Galney, arrived to meet them. As Luke informed the group of the Galactic Alliance Chief of State Cal Omas and Admiral Cha Niathal's assembly of a defense fleet to protect the Hapan crown, and that the fleet would be battle-ready within a week, Galney became angry and stated that a week was insufficient time. Tenel Ka silenced her. Luke dismissed Galney, stating that he had information for Tenel Ka alone, but Galney insisted on staying. Mara Jade physically removed Galney from the room, and Sergeant Whelmo Darb, a crewman on the Anakin Solo, escorted Galney back to her quarters.
Shortly after the investigation concluded, the battle of Hapes began. The Heritage Council, a group of Hapan nobles led by Ducha AlGray and Galney's sister, the Ducha of Terephon, sought to overthrow Tenel Ka and used inside information that Galney had unknowingly provided. Galney had unwittingly assisted the Heritage Council by freely giving information to one of her consorts, who was a traitor. However, the Council's plans ultimately failed during the battle of Hapes, resulting in a victory for Tenel Ka. Following the battle, Galney apologized to Tenel Ka for her carelessness in sharing information with her consort. Tenel Ka accepted the apology and instructed Galney to return to her cabin, assuring her that she would not be executed and that they would discuss her choice in consorts later.
Galney was very opinionated and argumentative, quickly condemning Han and Leia Solo as terrorists and assassins. She was deeply committed to Queen Mother Tenel Ka Djo's safety and insisted on being by her side at all times. Her unwavering commitment led some to suspect her of being a spy, funneling inside information to interested parties, which she did unwittingly. She was often smug when she got her way or won an argument, and took pride in being Tenel Ka's most trusted aide. However, Tenel Ka considered Galney a fool, and her perceived "special relationship" with Galney was merely an illusion. Galney had green eyes.
Troy Denning created Lady Galney for his novel Legacy of the Force: Tempest, which was the third book in the Star Wars: Legacy of the Force series.
