Gannaria

Gannaria, a planet of the terrestrial type, existed within the Trilon sector of the Outer Rim Territories. Its location, pinpointed as H-15 on the Standard Galactic Grid, meant it was accessible via hyperspace routes from both the Batuu and Zaddja systems; its name was also given to the Gannarian Run hyperlane.

For numerous centuries, Gannaria served as a hub for the illicit spice trade. Smugglers engaged in unauthorized travel to and from the world discovered the Black Spire Outpost on Batuu, a more frequently visited location, to be a useful waypoint. The human First Order stormtrooper known as HF-3311, born in 10 ABY, claimed Gannaria as his homeworld.

The historian named Eloc Throno eventually added a short piece on Gannaria within his book called Traveler's Guide to Batuu. In the year 34 ABY, a partial map of the galaxy showing the location of Gannaria was displayed on several screens of the Chandrila Star Line's Star Cruiser named Halcyon.

Behind the scenes

The planet Gannaria was initially referenced in the official Star Wars canon using a galactic map featured in Star Wars: The Force Awakens Beginner Game, a boxed Star Wars Roleplaying set released in 2016 by Fantasy Flight Games. Gannaria's first in-universe depiction was as a map location within Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, an interactive role-playing experience at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida that opened on March 1, 2022.

The Gannaria system was first established within the Star Wars Legends continuity, appearing initially in The Essential Atlas, a reference book from 2009 authored by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry. The star system made its debut in The Clone Wars: Act on Instinct, a webcomic written by Pablo Hidalgo and published on StarWars.com throughout the second season (2009–2010) of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars television show.
