Generis, a celestial body in the Outer Rim Territories, was part of the Atrivis sector. It functioned as the regional command center and operational hub for Senator Mon Mothma's organized rebellion opposing the Galactic Empire. Paril Ritta, a rebel pilot, originated from Generis and served in the Atrivis sector before he, along with three other Y-wing pilots, were reassigned to the MC75 Star Cruiser Profundity's starfighter forces by 1 BBY.
Located within the Atrivis sector, Generis was a celestial object situated where the Outer Rim Territories and the New Territories intersected. Its location was designated as grid square L-5 on the Standard Galactic Grid.

By 5 BBY, an armed rebellion was underway in the Atrivis sector against the Galactic Empire. One rebel cell, known as the Atrivis Resistance Group, established its base at Generis Station. This cell formed an alliance with the larger, organized rebellion secretly directed by Senator Mon Mothma after the Empire crushed another local cell on the nearby world of Mantooine.
By 2 BBY, Generis itself had become an operational command for the rebellion. This was documented on a map sent to Mothma, which detailed rebel safe worlds, starfighter hubs at level five or higher, operations headquarters, shadow planets, and hidden deep space caches. Archivist Hendri Underholt later archived this map within The Rebel Files, a collection of non-electronic documents. Later in 2 BBY, Mothma declared the official establishment of the Alliance to Restore the Republic.
Paril Ritta, a human, came hailed from Generis. As a rebel pilot in the Atrivis sector, he served the Alliance, piloting a BTL-A4 Y-wing assault starfighter/bomber. By the time of the Battle of Scarif in 1 BBY, he and three other Y-wing pilots operating in the sector had been transferred to the starfighter forces of the rebel MC75 Star Cruiser Profundity.
Within current Star Wars canon, Generis was initially mentioned on a map featured in Fantasy Flight Games' 2016 roleplaying boxed set, Star Wars: The Force Awakens Beginner Game. In the Star Wars Legends continuity, the planet Generis was first referenced in The Rebel Alliance Sourcebook, authored by Paul Murphy and released by West End Games in 1990 for use with the Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game. Terry Pavlet provided the first illustration of Generis in the 1994 supplement The Last Command Sourcebook, also published by West End Games. It then made its initial appearance in the 1998 LucasArts video game Star Wars: Rebellion, where it was portrayed using generic images shared with other locations in the game.
