"Ghosts of Kashyyyk, Part 3" is a comic tale where Chewbacca aids in the defense of Kashyyyk against a First Order assault. John Barber penned the narrative, Derek Charm provided the illustrations, and it saw publication in Star Wars Adventures (2017) 29 on December 18, 2019.
During the First Order's blockade of Kashyyyk, Daz Crano piloted her X-wing starfighter above the Black Forest, in hopes of finding Chewbacca. Subsequently, her porg signaled something it observed within the forest. Crano communicated this to Beaumont Kin, who headed a ground team in the search, but he dismissed the porg's sighting of Chewbacca and instructed Crano to continue searching.
Within a First Order encampment, Wookiees were imprisoned within sizable glass enclosures. The stormtrooper commander directed a couple of stormtroopers to search for SN-1208, who was overdue in returning to the encampment.
The stormtroopers were patrolling along the riverbank when they came across Terbus, the porg. Upon realizing it wasn't the intimidating Wookiee they expected, one of the stormtroopers, BT-9093, began chasing the porg. Both stumbled, tumbling down a muddy slope and into the turbulent river. Chewbacca observed from a tree, and Terbus was eager to assist.
Additional waves of stormtroopers were dispatched after the pair; however, each time, Chewbacca and Terbus skillfully exploited the terrain to overcome each stormtrooper. The commander, growing weary of Chewbacca's tactics, ordered the perimeter of the encampment to be secured. He then instructed his troopers to defend their position until the First Order Navy arrived for extraction, intending to take the Wookiees with them. However, Terbus triggered the alarm, prompting the stormtroopers to rush toward them. The commander, anticipating a ruse, instead went to the Wookiee prisoners.
Chewbacca was in the process of liberating the prisoners when the commander intervened. He intended to dispatch Chewbacca, along with the other Wookiees, to work in the mines on Jabiim. However, Chewbacca's efforts were not yet complete. While the commander spoke, Terbus stealthily approached from behind and severed the wire controlling the Wookiee prison cell. The enraged Wookiees launched an attack on the stormtroopers as the Resistance ground team arrived. Kin handed his bowcaster to Chewbacca, who used it to drive the commander into the forest. Subsequently, a swarm of porgs descended upon the commander.
Later, everyone gathered to celebrate their triumph. They expressed their gratitude to Chewbacca for his bravery and for rescuing the Wookiees, acknowledging that their struggle was ongoing and committing to fight across every planet to defeat the First Order, emphasizing the importance of unity in their efforts.
