The Great Vaults of Cato Neimoidia, also referred to as the Palace of Baron Paw Maccon, and previously known as Lott Dod's palace, functioned as the private residence for Senator Lott Dod representing the Trade Federation. It was situated within a bridge city located on Cato Neimoidia. After Dod's death during the Clone Wars, the palace was transformed into a secure vault where individuals from various sectors across the galaxy stored their most valuable possessions for security. In 34 ABY, Lor San Tekka faced arrest after his attempt to pilfer an artifact from a vault belonging to House Maccon.
During the Clone Wars era in 21 BBY, the palace served as the personal abode of Senator Lott Dod of the Trade Federation. From this location, he conducted his affairs and colluded with Separatist warlord Poggle the Lesser and Senator Rush Clovis of the Banking Clan to invest in a droid foundry established on Geonosis.
In that year, Senators Padmé Amidala of Naboo and Rush Clovis of Scipio embarked on a diplomatic mission to Cato Neimoidia, where Dod granted both her and the banker lodging within the palace. Upon Amidala being escorted to her allocated chambers, Clovis was guided by Dod to the palace's library. There, they engaged in discussions with Archduke Poggle the Lesser regarding the Banking Clan's financial stake in Count Dooku's new droid manufacturing facility and the prospective advantages it offered. However, driven by avarice, Dod and Poggle demanded a larger proportion of the foundry's revenues. Upon Clovis's refusal, the pair conspired to poisoning Amidala as a means to compel the banker to concede to their stipulations. With the support of a disguised Anakin Skywalker, Clovis confronted Dod and successfully obtained the antidote, although he was subsequently left to converse with the Neimoidian under the watchful aim of a squad of B1-series battle droids who had their blasters trained on him.
Subsequently, Dod died during the conflict, and by the time of 34 ABY, his palace had come under the ownership of Baron Paw Maccon of House Maccon. It was then repurposed as a secure repository for the affluent clientele of the Neimoidians, with its protection ensured by a unit of repainted B2-series super battle droids, a squadron of vulture droids, and several Neimoidian Royal Guards.
Baron Maccon made an attempt to convince General Leia Organa to store her mother's treasured dresses within his Vaults, while, unbeknownst to him, agents affiliated with the Resistance infiltrated the palace with the objective of extracting Lor San Tekka from the baron's grasp.
