Heap Nine

Heap Nine was a world of refuse where scavengers sifted through the remains of a civilization that had perished long ago. During 3 ABY, the Rebel Alliance's 61st Mobile Infantry made a stop on this planet during their campaign. Some members of the 61st traveled to the surface via dropships, and a few, including Hazram Namir, Gadren, and Brand, patronized a cantina in a local settlement. After Namir's unsuccessful attempts to woo a patron, and his subsequent consumption of local brew, Gadren assisted his comrade in leaving the cantina, and the two strolled down a street, reminiscing about previous deployments.

Description

Heap Nine was a terrestrial planet with an atmosphere of Type I, suitable for breathing by humans and various other alien species.

History

Members of the 61st Mobile Infantry (logo pictured) enjoyed shore leave at the settlement on Heap Nine.

Heap Nine was formerly the home of a civilization, but it had disappeared long before the Galactic Civil War and had decayed into piles of waste. During the conflict, scavengers combed through and bartered the remnants of this civilization. The Galactic Empire largely ignored this world of junk. In 3 ABY, the Rebel Alliance's 61st Mobile Infantry, engaged in the Operation Ringbreaker campaign near the Rimma Trade Route, paused at Heap Nine overnight. This respite for the unit was suggested by the former Imperial Governor Everi Chalis and Chief Medic Von Geiz.

A contingent of the 61st's personnel, taking advantage of shore leave, used dropships to reach Heap Nine's surface from the unit's CR90 corvette, known as the Thunderstrike. Among them were the acting Captain Hazram Namir, the former bounty hunter Brand, and Gadren. They visited an open-air cantina within Heap Nine's settlement, where they consumed a local brew. Namir and Brand each attempted to court a patron. Brand succeeded and departed with a new acquaintance. However, Namir, who had falsely claimed to be a meteor miner, was turned down by the green-skinned woman he approached. The acting captain drank three additional beverages before Gadren assisted him in leaving the cantina, and they discussed whether Namir's failed attempts at flirting had made him appear foolish.

Subsequently, Namir and Gadren proceeded down the settlement's main thoroughfare, discussing prior deployments, such as the one on Dreivus. Gadren recalled the 61st's time on Ferrok Pax to suggest that Namir feared the ongoing campaign's past and future sacrifices of the 61st. After several hours, the dropships transported the 61st personnel back to the Thunderstrike from Heap Nine, and the unit proceeded to its next target.
