Hyne, a male human, held the position of Chief Inspector within the Pre-Mor Security Inspection Team of Pre-Mor Enforcement. This team was part of the Preox-Morlana corporation during the Imperial Era. In the year 5 BBY, Cassian Andor, a native of Kenari and resident of Ferrix, killed two Pre-Mor sentry guards, Kravas Drezzer and Verlo Skiff. Following this event, Hyne's Deputy Inspector, Syril Karn, submitted a report to Hyne, expressing his desire to further investigate the matter. However, the Chief Inspector dismissed the idea, instructing Karn to fabricate an accident to cover up the incident. Hyne acknowledged the wrongdoings of Drezzer and Skiff and sought to avoid drawing unwanted attention from the Galactic Empire.
Despite the orders from Hyne, Karn chose to continue his pursuit of the case, leading a team to Ferrix with the intention of capturing Andor. This mission ultimately failed and subsequently attracted the attention of the Empire. Blevin, a Supervisor from the Imperial Security Bureau, viewed this incident as the final justification for ending corporate autonomy. As a result, he placed the Morlani system under Imperial control. Blevin then informed Hyne, Karn, and Sergeant Linus Mosk that they were to be immediately transferred to other facilities and held responsible for the events that occurred on Ferrix. Blevin rejected the Chief Inspector's claim of non-involvement.
During the Imperial Era, specifically during the reign of the Galactic Empire, which succeeded the Galactic Republic following the Proclamation of the New Order, Hyne, a male human, served within Pre-Mor Enforcement. This security force belonged to Preox-Morlana, a conglomerate headquartered on the planet Morlana One. Hyne eventually attained the rank of Chief Inspector within the Pre-Mor Security Inspection team. At some undefined point, Hyne encountered Kravas Drezzer, who was then a commander of a squad stationed on Four. The Chief Inspector considered Drezzer to be "one of the most unpleasant people" he had ever encountered.
In the year 5 BBY, Kravas—who had since been demoted to the rank of sentry corporal on Morlana One—and another sentry guard named Verlo Skiff were killed in the Leisure Zone located on Morlana One. Their deaths occurred after they harassed Cassian Andor, a Ferrixian visiting a brothel. That same evening, Deputy Inspector Syril Karn prepared a report regarding the incident for Hyne. This occurred while the Chief Inspector was getting ready to attend a review by the Imperial Regional Command to present data on crime statistics.

Knowing that Hyne would depart the next day, Karn wanted to ensure the Chief Inspector had all relevant information before his trip. Therefore, Karn arranged a meeting in Hyne's office, where he presented the report. Hyne reviewed the document, inquiring about the specifics of Karn's investigation and commenting on Karn's diligence. After noticing modifications Karn had made to his uniform, the Chief Inspector spotted Drezzer's name in the report, reminiscing about the sentry guard's past and describing him as an unlikeable individual. The two then discussed the leads concerning the person who killed Drezzer and Skiff. The Deputy Inspector expressed a desire to continue the investigation, but Hyne instructed Karn to cease his efforts, concluding that Drezzer and Skiff had initiated a fight they couldn't win. Hyne then requested that the Deputy Inspector create a plausible accident scenario for a revised report, making the deceased officers appear useful.
Karn argued that the two had been murdered, but the Chief Inspector countered that they had engaged in a fight and violated multiple regulations while on duty. Providing further instructions regarding the report, Hyne noticed Karn's dismay and ensured that Karn understood the implications of his request. Hyne further mentioned his upcoming meeting with the Imperial Regional Command to Karn, adding that the less attention the Empire paid to Preox-Morlana, the better it would be for the polity and the inspection team. After gathering his jacket, hat, and suitcase, the Chief Inspector asked Karn not to relax too much in his absence and to finalize the report, before leaving for the Regional Command review.
Despite Hyne's explicit request, Karn persisted with his inquiry, eventually discovering that Cassian Andor was responsible for the deaths. The Deputy Inspector directed Sergeant Linus Mosk to assemble a team of twelve officers to apprehend Andor. The sergeant praised Karn and Hyne, assuming the latter approved of the investigation, for pursuing justice for their fallen comrades. However, the team's attempt to capture the suspect resulted in a disastrous outcome, leading to the deaths of four officers and one civilian. This incident garnered the attention of the Imperial Security Bureau, prompting Lieutenant Blevin, the sector's supervisor, to intervene. Blevin placed the Morlani system under the permanent authority of the Empire.
As the Empire commenced the removal of items from the Corporate Security Headquarters, Blevin summoned Hyne, Karn, and Mosk to Hyne's office. There, he provided instructions regarding the surrender of equipment. The three were informed that they would be immediately transported to a transfer center and would receive any personal belongings from their quarters that the Empire had managed to catalog. The supervisor further commanded them to holo-certify receipts and acknowledge their involvement in the Ferrix incident. Hyne attempted to interrupt, but when Blevin stated that he would not dedicate any more time to reviewing reports, the Chief Inspector asserted that he had no connection to the incident. However, Blevin dismissed his claim, criticizing the apparent incompetence of Pre-Mor enforcement.

Hyne, a male human, possessed fair colored skin, blue [eyes](/article/eye], and white [hair](/article/hair], including a mustache. As a high-ranking officer, Hyne was concerned about events involving his subordinates but was willing to engage in deception to protect himself and his associates. Following the murders of two of his officers, Kravas Drezzer and Verlo Skiff, Hyne instructed Syril Karn to disseminate false information to the public rather than conduct a thorough investigation. He justified his actions by highlighting the past transgressions of the deceased officers and arguing that it would help keep the Empire from interfering in their affairs.
Hyne's initial appearance was in "Kassa," the inaugural episode of Andor, a live-action series on Disney+ created by Tony Gilroy and directed by Toby Haynes. The episode premiered on September 21, 2022. Rupert Vansittart portrayed the character. Before the series' release, Hyne was featured in promotional images released by The Walt Disney Company on Getty Images.
