Jav Mefran was a male human soldier who held the rank of corporal within the Alliance to Restore the Republic during the early stages of the Galactic Civil War. As a member of the Rogue One squad, he participated in the Battle of Scarif, where he met his end in combat.
Serving as a wilderness fighter specialist, Jav Mefran was part of the 4th SpecForce Regiment within the Rebel Alliance Special Forces. When the Rebel Alliance moved its base of operations from Dantooine to Yavin 4, Mefran played a role in clearing the jungle vegetation that surrounded the Great Temple.
Achieving the rank of corporal, Mefran became part of the Rogue One squad and saw action during the Battle of Scarif. Despite some reservations concerning the mission, Mefran concealed them by concentrating on the beautiful tropical environment of Scarif, as he possessed a fondness for rainforest settings. As the battle extended from Landing Platform Nine, Corporal Mefran stayed near the Zeta-class Heavy Cargo Shuttle SW-0608 together with Corporal Stordan Tonc and other Pathfinders. Initially avoiding detection from incoming Imperial reinforcements, he contributed to the defense of the ship when the Empire investigated, engaging in blaster combat with opposing forces outside the shuttle. However, even though Bodhi Rook successfully established communication with the Alliance Fleet orbiting the planet, Mefran was fatally shot by Imperial troops.
Jav Mefran, a seasoned and rugged individual, functioned as a wilderness fighter specialist. He had a particular fondness for rainforest environments, and he found solace in focusing on the aesthetic qualities of his surroundings to obscure any anxieties he had about ongoing missions or operations.
Francis Magee portrayed Mefran in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, with the character being credited as "Grizzly Rebel."
