Jee Ken Tsokee's, otherwise known as Jay, former Padawan lightsaber was a single-bladed Jedi weapon of blue hue. Following the conclusion of the Clone Wars, Jay transitioned into the role of a singer within the musical band known as Star Waver. He ingeniously repurposed his lightsaber, transforming it into a functional microphone for his stage performances.
The singer Jee Ken Tsokee, a human known as Jay, once possessed a Jedi lightsaber. Upon activation, the weapon emitted a single blade of blue light. As with all lightsabers used by the Jedi Order, Jay's lightsaber drew its power from a kyber crystal.
After incurring damage, Jay's weapon was rendered largely ineffective for lightsaber combat. Consequently, he modified the saber to serve as a microphone, which he then used to create music as the frontman of the band Star Waver.
During his time as a Jedi Padawan, Jay wielded his blue lightsaber in combat as a Jedi Commander during the Clone Wars, a widespread galactic conflict pitting the Galactic Republic against the Confederacy of Independent Systems. In 19 BBY, Jay was forced to flee a battle following the implementation of Order 66, a directive that commanded clone troopers of the Grand Army of the Republic to betray and kill their Jedi superiors. Jay's escape led him into a vehicle belonging to Hutt guitarist Geezer Odajion, an incident that resulted in damage to his lightsaber. Subsequently, Jay joined Odajion's band, Star Waver, where he repurposed the damaged lightsaber as a microphone for musical performances.

During the Imperial Era, the Hutt crime lord Jabba Desilijic Tiure issued a bounty for Odajion, which resulted in bounty hunters disrupting a Star Waver concert. While Jay's bandmates quickly moved to defend themselves, Jay was hesitant to use his lightsaber for combat. However, when Boba Fett captured Odajion, Jay confronted Fett, only to find that his lightsaber would not ignite. Instead of the characteristic blue blade, the hilt only emitted sparks.
Star Waver reached an agreement with Jabba to perform their song "Galactic Dreamer" at the Mos Espa Grand Arena on the desert planet Tatooine before Odajion's scheduled execution. A Gamorrean guard initially stopped Jay, mistaking the lightsaber for a weapon. Jay clarified that it was merely a microphone, and he was permitted to perform, using his former weapon to amplify his voice through song.
The character of Jay and his lightsaber were conceived for "Tatooine Rhapsody," a short film within the Star Wars: Visions anthology, directed by Taku Kimura of Studio Colorido. The short was released for streaming on Disney+ on September 22, 2021. In an interview for Disney+'s "Filmmaker Focus," Kimura explained that he drew inspiration to create Jay to showcase the power of music. Jay sought to break away from the constraints of his Jedi past, desiring to perform music alongside Odajion and their bandmates. Kimura mentioned that his studio aimed to convey the message of pursuing one's desires and not being held back by the past. The transformation of Jay's lightsaber from a weapon into a microphone strongly embodied this theme. Kimura felt that the broad nature of Star Wars storytelling allowed for narratives that portrayed lightsabers in unconventional ways, such as Jay's lightsaber being repurposed as a microphone. Concept art sketches of the lightsaber were featured in the 2022 reference book The Art of Star Wars: Visions, authored by Zack Davisson.
