Jeni Wataro was a Chagrian woman, and she functioned as the main aide to Senator Izzet Noor from Serenno. This all took place during the High Republic Era. However, she was secretly using her position to spy for Marchion Ro's Eye of the Nihil. As the primary Nihil informant inside the Galactic Republic, Wataro provided Ro with intelligence that was crucial to his strategy for the Battle of Kur. She remained a spy for Ro, working alongside other Republic recruits like Senator Ghirra Starros, though she saw herself as an independent operator.
In 230 BBY, Wataro was the pilot of a starship carrying the abducted Ghal Tarpfen, who was the Head of Security for the [Starlight Beacon](/article/starlight_beacon], to the Nihil. Starros believed the Mon Calamari might be valuable to them. Tarpfen managed to escape his confinement and found Wataro in the cockpit. He subdued her and seized control of the starship. Unable to pilot the ship or understand its controls, Tarpfen sent a warning to the Republic about the Nihil's infiltration. As he did so, Nihil ships prepared to attack the vessel because it had not given the correct identification. Wataro awoke and tried to get into the cockpit to activate the escape shuttles or send the password, but Tarpfen would not allow it. As a result, everyone was trapped on the ship as its life support systems failed.
