Jubnuk, a Gamorrean, was in the service of Jabba Desilijic Tiure, the crime lord, at his palace located on Tatooine.

In the time leading up to the Battle of Endor, Jubnuk was present when Luke Skywalker arrived at Jabba's Palace. Skywalker's intention was to negotiate with Jabba for the release of his friend, Han Solo. Jabba declined Skywalker's proposition, leading Skywalker to use the Force to take Nizuc Bek's blaster from its holster. In response, Jubnuk attempted to wrestle the blaster from Skywalker's grasp to safeguard Jabba. However, the Hutt activated the trapdoor in the room, causing Skywalker to fall into the pit of Pateesa, the Hutt's pet rancor.
Being positioned close to Skywalker when the trapdoor was triggered, Jubnuk also fell into Pateesa's pit, despite his efforts to cling to Jabba's moving throne. Both the Jedi Knight and the Gamorrean then slid down into the pit. Upon regaining their footing, they witnessed the door opening to reveal Pateesa, who had previously killed Oola, Jabba's dancer. Jubnuk, screaming in fear, desperately tried to climb back up the steep slide of the trapdoor, but was unsuccessful. While his fellow Gamorrean guards laughed at his predicament, the rancor killed Jubnuk. Skywalker, conversely, managed to kill the beast and escape a similar fate, causing great anger in Jabba.
During the mourning of the rancor's death by Malakili and Giran, one of Jubnuk's hands was found lodged between Pateesa's teeth.
Simon Williamson, a puppeteer, played Jubnuk in the 1983 film Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi. This film was the concluding chapter of the Star Wars original trilogy. Williamson also portrayed Max Rebo, though his contribution was not credited.
Jubnuk makes an appearance as a playable character in the "A Plan to Save Han" mission in the 2022 non-canon video game LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. In the game's rendition of Return of the Jedi, when Jabba presses the switch to drop Skywalker into the rancor pit, nothing occurs. Frustrated, Jabba hits the switch again, prompting Jubnuk and another Gamorrean to jump on the trapdoor beside Skywalker in an attempt to force it open. When the door finally opens, Jubnuk, Skywalker, and the second Gamorrean all plummet into the pit below.
Instead of Jubnuk, Pateesa devours the second Gamorrean, after which Jubnuk becomes playable and assists Skywalker in battling the rancor. After the rancor is defeated, Skywalker is depicted throwing Bidlo Kwerve's skull at Jubnuk, hitting the Gamorrean in the head and knocking him to the ground as the skull bounces into the gate switch, closing the gate on Pateesa. The rancor then regurgitates the Gamorrean it had consumed earlier, enabling the guard to escape. Successfully completing the mission permanently unlocks Jubnuk in freeplay mode.
