Kalee was the homeworld of the Kaleesh species, and it existed within the Huk sector of Wild Space. This planet was situated in the star system associated with Kalee and Huk. A notable figure from this world was Grievous, a male Kaleesh warlord.
The Yam'rii engaged in brutal conquests across numerous worlds within their sector, systematically looting resources and enslaving the local populations. When Kalee, the homeworld of the reptilian Kaleesh species, became a target, the Yam'rii's actions led to a devastating occupation of its people. This led to an ongoing struggle between the Kaleesh and the Yam'rii.
Qymaen jai Sheelal, the Kaleesh warlord who would later be known as Grievous, spearheaded an intensified and relentless campaign against the Yam'rii. As time passed, the Kaleesh managed to drive the Yam'rii from their world. Following this, Grievous initiated a series of destructive attacks on Huk, the desolate homeworld of the Yam'rii. Ultimately, the Yam'rii unexpectedly appealed to the Galactic Republic for assistance. The Republic, along with the Jedi Order, then intervened in the calamitous conflict, siding with the Yam'rii against the invaders. The Kaleesh were subsequently condemned, subjected to embargoes and fines, and suffered massive starvation resulting in hundreds of thousands of deaths, which fueled Grievous's desire for vengeance.
Between 34 ABY and 35 ABY, the adventurous chef Strono "Cookie" Tuggs embarked on a culinary expedition throughout the galaxy, which led him to Kalee. There, he discovered the necessary ingredients to prepare Karabbac Skewers. Later, Tuggs included the recipe for these Skewers, along with an account of his journey to Kalee, in his cookbook titled The Ultimate Cookbook, which was published in 35 ABY.
